🌟 What a busy week in Year 3! 🌟

From being geologists in Science, taking our learning outside and investigating man-made rocks, to writers in English, editing and redrafting our diary entries, we’ve been working incredibly hard! 🪨✏️

In Maths, we’re nearing the end of our Place Value unit, and our children have been showing what fantastic mathematicians they are! 🔢 We’ve also been dancers in PE, enjoyed a wellbeing session with Callum from the Mental Health Team watched a theatre production and celebrated Harvest together at church. 💃💚⛪

And that’s just a snapshot of our week… there’s been so much more! 🤩

What a week of learning, creativity and fun! Time for a well-deserved rest before we’re back for lots more next week.

🍂🌾 Year 2 & 3 Harvest Celebration 🌾🍂

A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us at St Martin’s Church today for our Year 2 and 3 Harvest Celebration. Your support means so much to us! ❤️

The children did a fantastic job performing their songs, poems and stories and celebrating Harvest together. 🎶🌻

A special thank you to Dave Howe for making us feel so welcome at the church.

We were also really proud of how sensible and responsible the children were when walking to and from the church. They were a real credit to Springhead! 👏

This week, Year 6 have worked incredibly hard on their writing - drafting, editing and publishing their diary entries from the point of view of Stanley in our class book, Holes! 🕳️ 🦎 🪏

The children were careful to include all the key skills we had discussed in class: rhetorical questions, communicating Stanley’s thoughts and feelings, conveying his character and switching from past to present tense.

They then published their writing beautifully, finishing the unit with a piece of work they can be extremely proud of! 😊 Well done all! 👏

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Cross Country Champions! 🏅🌟

This week, we were delighted to host the second cross country race of the year! 🏃‍♂️

With a slightly longer course this time, our children were put to the test, showing incredible resilience, determination and perseverance from start to finish. 💪

It was fantastic to see such brilliant sportsmanship throughout the race, with children encouraging one another, cheering on their friends and giving it their absolute best! 👏❤️

A massive well done to everyone who took part. Whether you were racing, supporting or cheering from the sidelines, you all played a part in making it such a fantastic event!

🎭🐒 What a fantastic morning at Springhead! 🦁🦜

The whole school was treated to a fabulous performance of **Dr Dolittle** by Image Theatre this morning! 🌟

Our children were fully immersed in the show, learning songs so they could join in and even getting the chance to show off their acting skills, with some lucky children taking to the stage to become part of the performance! 🎶🎤

There was plenty of laughter, lots of singing and some brilliant audience participation. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and children getting involved! 🥰

What a brilliant morning! A huge thank you to Image Theatre for such a fantastic performance and a memorable experience for everyone! 👏🎭

✨ Year 4 Writing! ✨
The children have been working hard on their first piece of writing in Year 4! 📝📚
Using our class text, The Lost Happy Endings, the children wrote their own descriptions of the witch. They carefully chose vocabulary to describe her appearance and personality, using expanded noun phrases and prepositions to add detail to their writing.
Today, they proudly published their finished pieces and were so excited to see their hard work come together! 🌟
Well done, Year 4 — what a fantastic start to your writing journey! 👏📖
