Footy Tots every Friday at Little stars 🌟 ⚽️

Footy Tots is a much-loved part of our children’s weekly routine. Having it every Friday means that, week after week, our children are able to practise and develop new skills while building confidence and having lots of fun.
Regular exercise is so important for young children, and Footy Tots is a fantastic way to keep them active while developing a whole range of physical and social skills. Through the sessions, the children work on their balance, coordination, agility, gross motor skills, listening, concentration, teamwork and confidence, as well as learning how to follow instructions and take part in activities with their friends.
Our children absolutely love our Coach Ryan and are always so excited to see him each week! ⚽️💙

Throughout the year, we introduce lots of different extracurricular activities for the children to enjoy, but Footy Tots is the one that we continue all year round because it is quite simply the best!
It has become such a special part of our weekly routine, and we love seeing the children grow in confidence, develop new skills and, most importantly, have fun every Friday! ⚽️

✨ Learning through Finger Gym! ✨
We’ve invested in lots of exciting new gym-style equipment, and today we introduced two of our new resources to some of our children — including mini tools, bolts, pegs and boards. 🛠️🧩
These activities may look like simple play, but they provide so many wonderful learning opportunities and help develop a wide range of skills.

They support:
💪 Fine motor skills and finger strength
🤏 Hand and finger muscle development
👀 Hand-eye coordination
🎨 Colour recognition
🔢 Pattern recognition
🧠 Concentration and problem-solving
⏳ Patience and perseverance
They can also play an important role in children’s emotional regulation, helping them to feel calm, focused and engaged.
We were absolutely blown away by some of our tiny two-year-olds today! 🥰 After only a few days of exploring these activities, they were already showing such fantastic finger strength, coordination and concentration.

It’s amazing to see how much learning can happen through something that simply looks like play! ❤️

🌟 Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (OAIP) 🌟
Sam and Kate had the opportunity to attend an amazing training session all about Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (OAIP).
We both came away feeling really inspired and liberated, with lots of ideas and enthusiasm for further improvements we can make within Little Stars to continue strengthening our inclusive provision. 💛
It was fantastic to celebrate and recognise all of the things we are already doing well. This evening, our whole team also came together to carry out an audit, reflecting on our current practice, identifying what works well, and exploring the areas where we can develop even further.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be putting together a long-term action plan to help us implement these improvements thoughtfully and effectively. It was also wonderful to share ideas, experiences and good practice with other settings and to hear about the approaches they have put in place.
We’ve certainly come away with a very long to-do list! 😄 But most importantly, we’re excited about the positive changes and opportunities ahead.
At Little Stars, we are committed to continually developing our knowledge, understanding and practice. We believe that ongoing learning, reflection and professional development are essential in ensuring we provide the very best possible experience and support for every child. 🌈✨

Protecting Our Little Stars 💛

At Little Stars Preschool, the safety and wellbeing of every child is always our highest priority.

As part of our ongoing safeguarding responsibilities, we have reviewed how we share photographs and images across our social media platforms.
In response to identified and evolving safeguarding concerns and the changing online environment, we have made the decision to no longer feature identifiable images of children on our public social media pages.

This does not mean we have to stop sharing the wonderful learning, creativity and special moments that happen at Little Stars.
Instead, we are simply changing how we share them.

☀️side profiles (only with consent and if absolutely needed)

We are incredibly lucky to have our Tapestry parent portal and our closed Facebook group, where we can share activities, ideas and, where appropriate, photographs within our more private parent communities.

Our public page is different because we cannot fully monitor who may view, follow or share our content. For this reason, we feel that changing the images we use publicly is an important additional step in helping to protect the children in our care.

You will still see plenty of Little Stars magic just through illustrations, creative activities, children's work, hands-on learning and carefully chosen images that do not identify individual children.

We haven't changed the moments we celebrate we've simply changed the way we share them.

Because protecting our Little Stars will always come first. ⭐💛

We’ve received so much lovely feedback from our parents, families and new children who have joined us at Little Stars. 💛

It’s always so wonderful to hear how grateful and happy families are that their children have settled so well, and how supported they feel by the care, time and effort we put into each and every child. 🌟

Tonight, one of our lovely families gifted us this beautiful basket filled with wonderful stories and Hideaway treats for us to enjoy in our garden space. We absolutely love it! 📚🌿💕
We feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful families as part of our Little Stars family.

🌟 What wonderful displays our children have created! 🌟
We have been so proud of the children and all the fantastic work they have been creating at Little Stars.

Our displays are a wonderful way of celebrating their learning, creativity, interests and achievements, and we wanted to share some of this with our parents and families too. ❤️

🦉 Our Literacy Story – Our Babies
One of our literacy stories this term has been Our Babies, which links beautifully with our All About Me learning as well as the season of autumn. The story explores families, siblings and feelings of worry, while showing the children that things can work out happily in the end.
Inspired by the story, our children created their very own fantastic owls using lots of different materials and media. They have produced some wonderful creations, which are now proudly displayed in our classroom. 🦉🍂

✏️ Our Wow Wall – Early Writing
Our Preschool children have also begun exploring letter formation. As part of our baseline assessment, we have been looking at the children's early writing skills, pencil control and their ability to recognise and form letters from their names.

Some of our amazing children are already able to write their names and are beginning to form letters with excellent pencil control — what a fantastic achievement! 👏

This assessment will now help us shape our planning for the rest of the term, with lots of opportunities for finger and hand strengthening activities, fine motor practice and activities to develop those important early writing skills. ✏️

🪞 All About Me – Celebrating Our Differences
We have also been learning about ourselves and what makes each of us unique. We have talked about eye colour, hair colour, skin colour, the different shapes and sizes of our faces and how our expressions can look different too. We noticed smiles, freckles and lots of other special features that make us us! ❤️
The children were given mirrors and paints and encouraged to create their very own self-portraits. We are incredibly proud of their paintings — they are amazing and show such wonderful attention to detail and resemblance! 🎨🖼️
🌈 Celebrating Learning Throughout the Year
As the year progresses, our displays will continue to grow and change alongside our themes, children's interests and learning. We will also be adding lots of “Wow Work” — those special pieces that we just can't wait to showcase!
We love celebrating what our children can do, and we hope you enjoy seeing their wonderful work and achievements too. 🌟

Although I didn’t win, I was absolutely overwhelmed and so surprised to be nominated as a SEN Superstar in Stockport. 💜

To even be recognised and nominated is such a privilege and an honour, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to put my name forward. 🥹✨
Special Educational Needs (SEN) holds such a special place in my heart. I will always be passionate about supporting, helping and guiding families through what can sometimes feel like a very difficult and overwhelming journey.

This is even more personal and special to me because I have my own personal experience of SEN.
I understand first-hand some of the challenges, emotions and uncertainty that families can face, and that’s a huge part of what drives my passion to make a difference.

I may not have won, but being nominated alongside so many amazing people who work tirelessly to support children and families is an achievement I’m incredibly proud of. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who believed in me and recognised the work I do. It truly means more than you know. 🌟

🌟 We’re getting ready for the children to return! 🌟
Although we’ve been enjoying a lovely summer with our own families, we’ve also been popping into preschool over the last few weeks, getting everything ready for our lovely children to return on 2nd September. 💛
We’re on the hunt for a few things to help enhance our learning areas, and we would be incredibly grateful for any donations. I’m more than happy to come and collect, or we can collect them when we return in September.

☕ Coffee Shop Role Play
Empty coffee tins
Hot chocolate tubs

🥁 Outdoor Music Wall
We’re creating a fantastic music wall using a pallet and are looking for:
Old pots and pans
Big metal spoons
Wire racks

Anything else you can imagine that would make an interesting noise outdoors!

🍼 Baby Milk Tins
If anyone has any empty tins that baby milk comes in, we would love to give them a new lease of life.

🌍 Around the World Display
We’re developing our “Around the World” area and would love any unbreakable items that could spark the children’s curiosity, such as:
Maps
Globes
Clothing
Artefacts
Interesting objects from different countries and cultures

📚 Creating & Making
Old notepads
Books that are no longer needed and that the children can use for cutting, sticking and creating

🦋 Wildlife Hideaway
We’re also creating an amazing wildlife hideaway and are looking for:

Binoculars
Books about birds
Butterfly and insect books
Wildlife and nature books
If you have anything sitting at home that you think could be useful, please get in touch.
One person’s unwanted item could become a fantastic learning resource for our children! 🌈
