A little bit about the person behind Daisy First Aid Stockport…

Hi, I’m Siân

I’m a paediatric nurse, first aid trainer, mum of four and the person behind Daisy First Aid Stockport

I’ve worked in paediatric nursing for over 20 years, including experience in NICU, PICU, burns, general paediatrics and education & research. I also spent several years as a sister in the burns unit at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital — so first aid isn’t just something I teach, it’s something I’ve spent my career living and breathing.

A few years ago, after experiencing NHS burnout, I decided to take a leap and build my own business. Daisy First Aid has given me the chance to do something I absolutely love — helping parents, carers and professionals feel confident knowing what to do when a child needs them most.

I’m passionate about making first aid friendly, practical and completely fear-free. No scary horror stories. No intimidating role plays. Just useful, hands-on skills that you can actually remember when it matters.

And when I’m not teaching first aid…

Good luck fundraising ARTventurers Stockport ! A brilliant local charity Free From Families will do so much good with this!

Anaphylaxis awareness is a huge part of what I teach in schools and nurseries, helping to keep our children safe ❤️

If a child gets a burn:

💧 Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes.
👕 Remove clothing or jewellery near the burn if it isn’t stuck to the skin.
🚫 Don’t use ice, creams, butter or toothpaste.
🩹 Once cooled, cover loosely with cling film or a clean, non-fluffy dressing.

🚑 Seek medical help for serious or extensive burns, burns involving the face, hands, feet, ge****ls or major joints, or whenever you’re concerned about the injury.

Please don’t underestimate burns in children. Their skin is thinner than an adult’s, so a burn can be deeper than it first appears.

💛 First aid confidence comes from knowing what to do before you’re faced with an emergency.

🚑 Emergency Services Week at All Saints Primary, Marple! 🚑

Thrilled to be at in Marple today as part of their Emergency Services Week! 💛

Today we’ve been working with Years 6, 5 and 4, teaching them practical, lifesaving first aid skills in a fun, relaxed and fear-free way.

Tomorrow it’s the turn of Years 3, 2 and 1 — and I can’t wait! 🙌

It’s been amazing to see the children getting involved, asking brilliant questions and learning skills that could genuinely make a difference in an emergency. 🩹❤️

And the best bit? This session was funded by the PTA, and costs start from just £3.66 per pupil.

Let’s give children the skills and confidence to help, not panic, in an emergency. 🚑🌼

🚨 SEEK URGENT MEDICAL HELP if you notice:

• Loss of consciousness
• Increasing drowsiness or difficulty waking
• Confusion or unusual behaviour
• A worsening headache
• Repeated vomiting
• A seizure
• Problems with vision
• Dizziness or difficulty walking
• Increasing weakness or reduced responsiveness

After a head injury:
👉 Stop physical activity
👉 Keep a close eye on them
👉 If you’re concerned, seek medical advice

If they become unresponsive and aren’t breathing normally — call 999 and start CPR.

Knowing what to look for could make all the difference. ❤️
