Year 4 in the Spotlight

We love our library! It is so warm and inviting. We love to mooch around looking for our next choice of reading book 📕. We know it is important to make sure we tidy up after ourselves when our session is over so that others can enjoy the space after us 📚

Year 4 in the Spotlight

How exciting to be able to use our new Art/DT room for our DT lesson today where we were practising our linkages for the book pages we are going to make next week! 🎨📚

Year 4 in the Spotlight

The children have been putting our new computer suite to good use, practising their times tables on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS)! 🖥️🤩
We’re building speed, accuracy and confidence as we prepare for our Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) at the end of the year. Keep rocking those times tables, Year 4! 🎸🔥

Year 4 in the Spotlight

Year 4 have been finding their rhythm in music, learning to play the djembe drums and exploring the exciting technique of ‘call and response’! 👏
There’s been plenty of rhythm, teamwork and musical fun as they listen, respond and play together. Take a look and hear their fantastic drumming in action! 🥁🎵

We have some big news!

As you know we have an incredible PTA, who, with the support of our community, raise funds to improve our school. We are delighted to share that they have chosen a project to raise funds for this year. Please see the pictures below. The Friends of Ashtree will keep us updated with how much has been raised. As soon as we have raised the money, we will commission the work.

The design is for the field, to the left of the KS2 playground doors:

A huge sandpit

A construction zone

Water chute area with chalkboards and imaginative play

Let us know your thoughts…

Year 4 in the Spotlight

We are having a focus on our handwriting. We are making sure we have the correct writing posture, that we are using the line spacing correctly and that our letters are joined correctly to make our writing the best it can be!
Look at the improvement from September! Can you do any better? 👀✍️

Year 5 did brilliantly showing their peers their final gymnastics routines! It was great to see that the children had incorporated all of the elements of teaching from the past six weeks in their final project.

Well done Year 5!

This week, Year 4 - Shackleton Class - is in the spotlight!

We are named after Ernest Shackleton. He demonstrated our 3 values brilliantly.
Curiosity - “Wondering what Antarctica was like enough to explore it.” (Rowan)
Courage - “Even though he almost died while attempting to get there, he tried exploring again.” (Daisy A)
Care - “He took a lot of people with him and kept them safe and alive even though they faced hunger and hardship.” (Luke)
In Shackleton class we are: curious, courageous and caring just like him.
