First week of September complete ✅

This week we have welcomed lots new children and parents to our Olive Barn family!! We are super proud of how well our new children are settling in.

We hope the children who graduated from Olive Barn had a wonderful first week at school!

We have some fantastic news to share!

Olive Barn Nursery has officially adopted an Amur Tiger at Colchester Zoo!

The children are absolutely full of excitement as they share their zoo experiences and talk about all the amazing animals they've seen—especially the tiger! 🐯

If you’re planning a visit to Colchester Zoo, don’t miss the chance to see the tiger adopted by Olive Barn Nursery!

There will be a plaque at the tiger enclosure that reads “adopted on behalf of the children from Olive Barn Nursery Ltd.”

We’d love for you to send us lots of photos of your children beside the plaque and the tiger!

We can’t wait to see all the wonderful pictures from our families! 😊

As the season is changing, Olive Barn pre-school children noticed the blackberries were ready to be picked during their forest school session! They listened to the instruction on how to pick them safely (gently and one at a time), then collected them in their own little baskets. At the end we got enough to share with everyone in the class! Yummy!

🎓 Graduation 2026 🎓

This weekend we celebrated our Olives (Pre-school) who are embarking on there next journey to big school very soon.

We are so honoured to be a part of the children’s story and we will miss them dearly when they leave for big school.

Thank you to all of our wonderful families who attended and for the thoughtfulness in the gifts we have received ❤️

Wow! Look at us being independent and cutting our own fruit for snack 🍎🍌

By us using child friendly utensils, children learn long lasting life practical skills, make their own choices and take responsibility for preparing their food. Moments like these provide hands on experiences which strengthen fine motor skills, promotes healthy eating habits and gives children a sense of achievement and pride for what they have prepared.

🧸 National Teddy Bears Picnic Day 🧸

Today the whole nursery joined together in the garden for a fun teddy bears picnic! After snack, we all had so much fun splashing in the water. The children especially enjoyed getting all the staff members wet 😂
