Happy 21st to Jude! I have now filled all emergency year 11 spaces so it will not be possible to take on anyone else unless someone drops out. Today is the last day of Summer School then I look forward to starting our brand new term and welcoming back regular students as well as new ones!

Entries for all modern languages at GCSE and for French in particular continue to fall. Languages are hard and so many parents want their children to start learning a language young. So are we failing our young people by the way we assess them in languages at 16? Is the style of exam we use fit for purpose? I watch these trends with interest
