🐦 Recycled Birds 🐦

At Ducklings Stapleford, we follow our own unique curriculum based on the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage- but we base all our learning around the children’s interest.

That interest in the last couple of weeks has been birds! Our children enjoyed getting messy using the glue and recycled CDs to create their own bird decorations to hang up.

During this activity, we linked to mathematical development by using number, e.g “how many eyes does your bird have?” and comparing amounts e.g, “Your bird has more wings than mine”.

Activities like this are adapted to suit each child’s individual learning outcomes and to meet the child where they are at. It was lovely to see the children really concentrating and getting stuck in!

⭐ Let’s Celebrate our Preschool Graduation!⭐

At Nursery, Preschool Graduation is always so special as it represents the moment we celebrate all the children have achieved, and share the excitement about their move to big school!

It was an extra special one for us this year being a new nursery, as we have been able to watch the very first children who joined our setting set off on their big adventure.

What better way to celebrate than a trip to Little Foxes Play Town in Beeston, with our friends at Beeston Nursery

🌟 When our practitioner Aman is teaching, no background music is needed! 🌟 

We wanted to show this wonderful example of our practitioner Aman sharing an activity with the children, building on the children’s knowledge of colour mixing and introducing vegetable painting.

In our nursery, our ethos focuses on calm, gentle teaching and play, and we feel this video really highlights this, with the children really listening to what they are being shown ✨

We are seeking a Level 3 or above qualified Childcare professional to become our new Deputy Manager at Ducklings Stapleford.

We have a lovely environment here in the Stapleford Pavilion, where you will be given freedom to implement ideas and bring your passion for childcare to life.

We are a very small team of 3 practitioners and a Manager, so you will be known personally and treated with care and respect. We have great resources and a passion for doing the best for our children.

At Ducklings Nursery Stapleford, excitingly part of our Curriculum is focused on Geography & Science!

Our Learning Intents here focus on teaching the basics to our children about the many different materials objects are made from, cause and effect and how objects float and sink in water.

These activities are a fantastic way for our youngest and oldest learners to explore together, with our skilled practitioners on hand to expand the learning to meet each child where they are in their journey.

Plus in this weather, water play is a great way to cool off, too!

☀️ How are you staying cool this heatwave? ☀️

We are taking extra special care to ensure our children are safe during this heatwave. We are encouraging them to use our water station to stay hydrated, giving lots of water based snacks and making sure we are only enjoying time outside outside of high UV times and under the lovely shaded trees.

At Circle Time, Leigh has been teaching all about the importance of sun hats and sun cream, and how these keep us safe.

Plus, not to boast… we have air con! Our staff might want to sleep at Nursery tonight 😂 ❄️

We are so excited to have partnered with children’s charity Active Respite to provide a sharing library at our Nursery!

This has been created with the hope that all children can access stories to be read to them at bed time.

‘There can be few things as powerful as regularly reading to a young child’ it has astonishing benefits for children: comfort and reassurance, confidence and security, relaxation, happiness and fun. Giving a child time and full attention when reading them a story tells them they matter. It builds self-esteem, vocabulary, feeds imagination and even improves their sleeping patterns’ - The National Literacy Trust, 2026.

🌳 Community Trips🌳

Something we love here at Ducklings Stapleford is our daily trips out into the community! Be it looking at the boats in the canal, going to Stapleford Library to borrow some books, riding on the bus or visiting a playground, the children’s joy and excitement is always infectious!

Community involvement in the early years is so important for children’s development; experiences like this promote a positive self-image, a sense of belonging and connection and improve communication and confidence.

We are so proud of our little community in Stapleford so please do give us a wave when you see our hi-vis jackets!
