MUDRAS
Mudras are one of the most Beloved practices in Rasa Yoga. Mudras assist in the circuitry of energy flow in the body and they are energetic seals for the flow of prana.
A great amount of communication happens in daily life through the articulation of the hands. We often ‘speak with our hands,’ communicate non-verbally with the hands, and try to emphasize importance with our hand gestures.
We offer healing touch through our hands, with Reiki, massage, energy work and simply comforting a friend with a touch.
In Ayurveda, each finger is associated with different elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. Just as yoga asanas have different effects on the body, so do the connections we make with our fingers and hands.
Mudras assist us with our emotional state and mental clarity. They can help raise our energy when fatigued, calm us when agitated, help build natural self-confidence, open our heart to receive love, empower us with courage and fearlessness and overall call us home into harmony with our surroundings. When combined with seated
meditation, pranayama and asana, the alchemy is catalyzed into a more refined dimension.
Sometimes the practice of hand mudra is called the ‘yoga of hands.’
Which one of the Mudras is your favourite , can you name them ?
