Armistice Day
We went to a Remembrance parade.
The veteran soldiers held flags and fired a gun salute and The Last Post was played on the Bugle. Poppy wreaths were laid by The Mayor and others.
We then went to Windsor to see the castle and the soldiers. We bought poppys and the children dressed up in a bearskin hat.

The Grufallo
We learned about Autumn, British wildlife, birds, mice, foxes, owls, robins etc. We had a lovely day at Alice Holt Woodland Park and followed The Grufallo trail. In the discovery centre the children were shown a real (stuffed) badger and saw several birds nests, skulls and horns.
We played with Grufallo sensory trays and did some colouring in.
Did memory cards and a matching activity. Puzzles, dressing up, reading. And we used grapes to role play the poisoness wart on the end of his nose and ate Grufallo biscuits, roasted fox rolls and Grufallo croses

Firework night.
We learned about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot.
We talked about fire safety and fireworks and learned about staying safe with sparklers, wearing gloves and putting them into a bucket of water after use. Fireman Sam helped to explain this. The children learned the Guy Fawkes rhyme.
We made chocolate finger sparklers to eat and for craft we made rockets and firework pictures.
We counted fireworks to the firework song and watched televised firework displays to discuss the colours, shapes and sounds. Bang, crackle, fizz etc

Room on the Broom and Halloween.
We went on a witch hunt around Claremont Landscape Gardens using trail clues, problem solving, numbers and writing. We made a witch craft, made cupcakes and carved pumpkins to take home. Weighed and mixed all the ingredients.
We had a Halloween tea party, dressed up, danced and sang.
We played board games, matching flash cards, puzzles, reading, drawing and played with the sensory trays.
