This morning our Britain in Bloom winners went to Keele University to see their artwork displayed, and to receive their certificates and prizes! There were 1084 entries, so our children did extremely well! Their artwork will be displayed for the next week in Keele In Town if you’d like to take a look! 🎨🖌️✨

Sycamore are learning about the pottery industry in history and local pottery in art. Last week, we went to Gladstone Pottery Museum, and the children were set a homework project of creating something related to our learning. We've been really impressed with what we've seen, and it is on display in our classroom (including some of the clay pots some of the children made on our trip).

Yesterday, year 6 completed their ‘Make do and mend’ textiles unit in DT. They practised and applied different sewing stitches such as the running stitch and blanket stitch. Many applied zips, buttons and pockets. A massive thank you to Mrs Titterton and Mrs Lee who assisted. Here are a snapshot of the photos.

DROWNING PREVENTION
Last week, I shared an assembly with children in Key Stage 1 and 2 about the importance of safety around open water.
Tragically, local reviews have identified a number of child deaths due to drowning, highlighting the importance of raising awareness with both children and families. This newsletter provides important safety messages, including:
The hidden dangers of open water such as rivers, canals, and quarries
The increased risk of drowning during warmer weather
Practical advice for supervising children around water
Simple but vital safety tips for water in the home and garden
It also highlights that drowning can happen quickly and quietly, and that even small amounts of water can pose a risk.
Please read and share with your children where appropriate.

What a truly fantastic day Elm Class have had today at the Wolseley Centre. We spent our morning decorating caterpillars with natural items we found on the ground and then ventured out into the wild meadows to catch bugs. We managed to catch caterpillars, insects, moths and even a butterfly! We loved looking at them through the viewers. We then ventured into the woods and spent some time digging for worms before enjoying a bite to eat.
In the afternoon, we explored the Rain Garden. We played in the water, completed scavenger hunts, and spent some time looking through binoculars to see what we could see. A huge thank you to our host Tom for guiding us round today. We had a brilliant time!

Birch Class have had an amazing day at The Wolseley Centre today, exploring and investigating in nature, our favourite thing to do! We spent the morning exploring in the Rain Garden where we got to show off our knowledge of bugs and plants whilst taking part in lots of different activities. The water play was particularly popular! After dinner we headed out into the wild flower meadow with our bug collecting equipment to see what we could catch. We had a range of insects including grasshoppers, moths and a range of different beetles. It was all very exciting and the children were so well behave, it really was a wonderful day.
