We are certainly not going to argue with Benjamin Franklin’s opinion on education!
Education is more than just the world of academia and it brings rewards beyond solely financial benefit (although that’s important). Education can also stimulate social, cultural and environmental change (amongst other things).
If we want to, we can spend our lives learning (and not just from a text book). When we learn something new, whether in the world of cooking, exercise, academia or otherwise that time - and knowledge - is never wasted.
