I nearly fell off the swing!

Perhaps don't sign whilst swinging 😂

Think visually.

LEGS - bent and sitting
SWING - acting as a seat for the legs

Together = SWING

ASL - American Sign Language

Deaf comedian, Andrew Fisher.

A great example of Deaf humour. Some of the comments are really interesting as there are compliments to the interpreter, and of course he's doing a great job.

When I was interpreting I struggled when the conversation, attention leaned toward me when I preferred to see myself as a vessel for the voice only. It was rare that I would be 'ignored' and I appreciate it's challenging but I do feel there needs to be an awareness that an interpreter is like a working dog - perhaps they can wear a tabard that says, 'do not pet'. 😁

If you are learning BSL watch sign languages from other parts of the world and notice the differences. For example:

Numbers - in BSL, the palm faces in but in Japanese Sign Language the palm faces out 🖐️

What other differences do you notice?

'It worked!'

The joy when the son connected with his daddy in ASL

Sign language connects people on another level, whether you're fluent or learning, that 'it worked' moment is GOLD! 🙌
