The start of May seems like a good time to remind followers and members of two things!

This gets you onto to electronic mailing list which aims to update you 6 to 12 time a year, about what we are up to and where we are meeting. It also shares information about our tall informed issues website and our closed Facebook group - a safe place for "Tallistas" to talk without the sometimes "interesting" comments from those less vertically endowed.....

TPC Annual Weekend Away!

So who's coming? Can't wait eh? If you've been before, it's a normal feeling . . . but if you don't know what we're talking about, read on!

So throughout the year, there are regional Club social events, but once a year over the August Bank holiday weekend, we have our annual celebration, known affectionately as “The Annual Doo”.

This year's Bank Holiday weekend away is from Friday 22nd until Monday 25th August 2025 and the location is the Delta Hotel, Swindon. And here's what we've got planned for you:

Friday 22nd August: Arrive at the Delta Hotel, Swindon, drop off your bags and join us at 'Escape HQ' escape rooms, followed by a bar meal, drinks, giant garden games and lots of fun back at the Delta Hotel. Tickets are available to buy now at https://www.tallclub.co.uk/projects/22nd-august-swindon-tall-escape-room but numbers are limited so be quick! We already have more people booked in at the hotel than we have spaces in the escape rooms.

Saturday 23rd August: This is a free day with lots available locally to see and do such as museums, shopping, steam trains, beautiful countryside, etc. Once you have booked, you will be invited to join the Swindon 2025 WhatsApp Group Chat, find out what everyone else is doing and then either join others or do your own thing - your choice. In the evening, we have a lovely hotel booked nearby for an informal gathering - think characterful pub with good food, great staff, beer garden and parking to the rear. Then, based on previous years, it's back to the hotel bar for more drinks, cocktails and fun (and games?) until the last person standing goes to bed!

Sunday 24th August: Lots going on today if you want to join in, or another free day to do your own thing. There is an organised guided walk around the Swindon Railway Village, followed by the Steam Museum if you wish to join us. The formal business of the Club - the AGM - will take place in the Uffington Suite at the Delta Hotel at 4pm which all members can attend.

Then the grand finale of the weekend is the Gala Ball! Please don't let a dress code put you off. Ideally it's black tie for the men and evening dress for the ladies, but it's more important that you're there, feeling relaxed and having a great time . . . Having said that, how often do the ladies get the chance to put on their glad rags and high heels and still look up to the men . . . a great opportunity not to be missed in my humble opinion! Monday 25th August: And it's sadly time to say goodbye (to some for a year) until next time! Being at the hotel means you often get to sit around on the Monday morning, exchange contact details with new friends made and wave them off . . . until next time.

Staying at the Delta Hotel each night means you also get to chat to people milling around - in the bar between events, the gym, the indoor swimming pool and spa and of course at breakfast each morning . . . people have voiced previously how glad they were that they did I know a couple of people in the past have found a cheaper hotel which may save you a few pounds but we believe we've found you a great hotel at a great price - it's only once a year after all! It's so nice to be able to wander upstairs when the evenings finished rather than having to worry about drink driving or taxis back to another hotel!
