We helped Father Christmas today who had lost his workshop key and sleigh bell. Phew!
It snowed!
Party games!
It really happened. Father Christmas came!
It has been a joy preparing for Christmas with our fabulous children this month. Tomorrow it is time to party and we cannot wait to celebrate together. Party day here we come! π
Our grassy play area was a safe place to play and it was full of wonderful ice treasures! The children decided to heat the ice on the hob in their outdoor house! Super science learning Reception.
Christmas lunch day!
It was tricky walking on the ice to school today, but Reception loved exploring it in our outdoor garden.
Our children have been busy on the big stage in the hall performing their nativity this week. To add to the excitement Monster Phonics DfE Validated Phonics Programme treated our children to a box of monster phonics toys! Before we had time to tell them about the surprise the 10 characters had dressed themselves in nativity costumes and performed their own nativity while our children were on the stage! They said they had been inspired by the children and wanted to retell the story of the very first Christmas too. Thank you Monster Phonics Resources for giving our children such a wonderful gift. ππ
What a special end to the week. Our Reception children have shared the story about the greatest gift of all so beautifully. We are bursting with pride. Well done to all of our shining stars. β
We are very proud of our Reception children who took part in our Nativity dress rehearsal today. Our narrators tell us about the first Christmas and our other performers are in role as the characters in the story. We look forward to sharing it with our familes at the end of the week.
Reception are enjoying our new friends the kindness elves who have come to stay with us throughout December. They spend their days making special kindness potions and are looking out for small acts of kindness in our Reception classes. We know they are going to be proud of our children.
Reception are so excited to open our first book for
Yesterday we discovered a rainbow in the playground. Today we learnt that when light shines through the rain, the light is bent and reflected like a reflection in a mirror and we see beautiful colours. π

What a treat to hear our fabulous reception children recite their favourite nursery rhymes to celebrate . We had such fun together.
Did you know that nursery rhymes provide bite-sized learning opportunities for young children to develop key developmental skills and can often be the trigger for hours of creative and open-ended play. They are a powerful learning source in early literacy and enable children to become interested in the rhythm and patterns of language. Many nursery rhymes are also repetitive which can support the development of memory and kickstart the practice of listening and speaking.
Experts in literacy and child development have discovered that if children know eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they're four years old, they're usually among the best readers by the time they're eight. -

Today the children read this caption in our phonics lesson. As it is it reminded us of, 'Polly put the kettle on.' We cannot wait to hear the children share their favourite nursery rhymes with us on Thursday. Which is your favourite nursery rhyme?
Mr. McCann made us very proud of our challenge winner. We cannot wait to hear about her forthcoming trip to choose a new book with Mr. McCann and the other winners.
On Remembrance Day we looked at some very special medals brought in by one of our parents. They included a diamond jubiliee medal, a 6 Year Uniformed Service by 2nd Feb 2012, a platinum Jubilee medal, a 6 Year Uniformed Service by 2nd Feb 2022
adet Forces Medal (CFM) and 12 years service as a uniformed cadet forces adult volunteer.
Today we remembered Company Sergeant Major Beckett, Miss Mellon's brother. Every year she receives a poppy wreath from the British Legion which she places at the monument in Ainsdale. We joined the whole school for a 2 minutes silence to remember the sacrifice of the Armed Forces.
Our week began with our focus story, 'The night before the dentist' by Natasha Wing. The children are learning so much about the importance of keeping our teeth clean, visiting the dentist and making healthy food and drink choices. Well done Reception!
On Reception came together and conducted a tooth decay experiment. We put eggs which have a similar substance to tooth enamel in tea, coffee, water, a fizzy drink and milk. We predicted what we think will happen to the egg shells tomorrow.
Thank you Bates Farm and Dairy for visiting Reception today! Bates Farms & Dairy Ltd
In Reception our children are developing their knowledge about healthy foods and drink which will help us have strong teeth and bones. We were delighted to welcome Bates Farm and Dairy into school today. We found out about the different local products that they deliver in our community. We discovered that their business began in 1939 and the original transport was a horse and cart. Today it was very exciting to see two of their milk floats in our playground which are run by electricity! Mr Brough and Alison who deliver their products get up very early every morning and said they love helping our community and keeping their customers healthy. Bates Farms & Dairy Ltd
Reception, Year One and Year 2 were excited to learn about science day in a special assembly led by Miss Talent this afternoon.
The children have already demonstrated lots of fantstic scientific thinking when answering Miss Talent's questions and they cannot wait to explore their science topic this week to celebrate .

Reception loved learning about Diwali this week. They listened to the story of Rama and Sita and made diva lamps. They lit them to guide Rama and Sita back to their land. The lights remind us that light triumphs over evil. We celebrated with some fabulous Diwali dancing.
