Oh my heart! 🥹🦔💛 The hedgehogs are SO hungry at the moment — and a bit soggy last night too! 😂🌧️

Hugo and Harvey have grown into two fine specimens, and I’m eagerly keeping an eye out for some hoglets. 🦔🦔

This little potato isn’t a hoglet, but it’s still very young and oh so cuteee! 🥹💕

Our spiky visitors love a bowl of fresh water and some Sainsbury’s kitten kibble (high meat content) — although judging by the empty bowls, they’re certainly making the most of it! 😂🥣

Hedgehog rescues are at breaking point this year, with the lack of rain making it much harder for hedgehogs to find their natural food sources.

Hedgehogs are on the Red List for endangered species, so anything we can all do to help is absolutely awesome. 💛

A little bowl of water, some suitable food and a safe, wildlife-friendly garden can make a real difference.

Let’s look after our fabulous spiky friends! 🦔🦔🌻

📚 Remembering Dolly Parton: The Book Lady 📚

This week the world lost Dolly Parton — but her love of reading lives on in millions of children's bookshelves.

Since 1995, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has mailed free books to children from birth until they turn 5 — gifting more than 332 million books to children across five countries. One book a month, every month, with no barriers and no cost to families. (NewsChannel 5Forbes)

She started it in honour of her father, who never learned to read or write — and she once said reading "gives you wings to fly anywhere you want to go." (Forbes)

That's exactly what our Little Free Library is about too — one small doorway to somewhere else, free for anyone who wants it. Every book donated, every book borrowed, is a little bit of Dolly's spirit in our own street.

Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the wings. 🕊️📖

Sometimes the smallest things mean the most. 💛 Today I received the loveliest thank you card from a family, addressed simply “To the lovely little library lady”. 🥹📚

It thanked me for all the hard work that goes into running the library — and even mentioned all the space the books must take up! 😂📚📚📚

It honestly made my day. Running Little Library Marshside takes quite a bit of time (and yes… there are lots of boxes of books! 😂), but seeing people enjoy the library, discover new authors, share books and especially children getting excited about reading, makes every minute worthwhile.

A little thank you like this is such a wonderful reminder that the library really does mean something to people. 💛

Thank you to the lovely family who left this for me — you’ve made this little library lady very happy. 🥰📚

The plan yesterday was a little gardening and then a good book in the evening… which turned out to be a little gardening and then an early night! 😂 Everything takes so much longer when you’re still one-handed, and I was absolutely exhausted. Hopefully not too much longer now! 😁

It took twice as long as usual to prep today’s stacks – the library has been so busy that we have not one but TWO stacks today! ❤️ I absolutely love seeing how well-loved the library is.

And because we have two stacks, we have two Books of the Day!

⭐️ BOTD – The Island – Catherine Cooper
A twisty thriller set on a luxury Maldivian island, where a press trip turns deadly when a storm cuts the guests off from the outside world. With secrets, suspicious characters and plenty of twists, who can you trust?

⭐️ BOTD – The Yorkshire Pudding Club – Milly Johnson
Three South Yorkshire friends, all approaching 40, unexpectedly find themselves pregnant at the same time. As their very different lives are turned upside down, friendship, love and second chances come to the fore. A warm, funny and uplifting read.

📚 Stack One

• The Witch Hunter – Max Seeck
A gripping Nordic thriller involving a terrifying killer, dark secrets and a hunt to uncover the truth.

• Cast Iron – Peter May
A gripping crime mystery set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Hebrides, as an investigation uncovers disturbing secrets.

• Alex Cross Must Die – James Patterson
Alex Cross faces one of his most personal cases yet when a deadly killer puts him and those closest to him in danger.

• After That Night – Karin Slaughter
Years after a traumatic attack, a woman is forced to confront the past when a new case brings old memories back to the surface.

• Black Widows – Cate Quinn
Three women discover that the man they all married may not have been who he seemed – and one of them may have killed him.

• Greenwich Park – Katherine Faulkner
A seemingly perfect pregnancy friendship takes a sinister turn, as Helen becomes increasingly suspicious of the mysterious woman she meets at antenatal classes.

• Homage to Catalonia – George Orwell
Orwell’s powerful first-hand account of his experiences fighting in the Spanish Civil War.

• Heads You Win – Jeffrey Archer
A gripping story of two possible lives, following one man’s journey down two very different paths.

• Lion & Lamb – James Patterson
A fast-paced crime thriller in which a shocking murder sets a dangerous investigation in motion.

📚 Stack Two

• Starting Over – Marcia Willett
A warm, character-driven story about change, new beginnings and finding the courage to rebuild your life.

• Hidden Talents – Erica James
A heartfelt novel exploring relationships, secrets and the unexpected talents and possibilities that emerge when life takes an unexpected turn.

• The Yorkshire Pudding Club – Milly Johnson ⭐️ BOTD
Three friends, three unexpected pregnancies and three very different reactions – a warm and uplifting story about friendship, love and second chances.

• Beautiful Broken Things – Sara Barnard
A story of friendship, growing up and the complications that arise when two best friends become caught up in the same complicated relationship.

• The Love Interest – Victoria Walters
A romantic story about relationships, unexpected connections and discovering what – and who – really matters.

• Remember Me? – Sophie Kinsella
Lexi wakes up after an accident with no memory of the last three years – and discovers that the life she apparently built is very different from the one she remembers.

• The Girl You Left Behind – Jojo Moyes
A dual-timeline historical romance linking a young woman in occupied France with a modern-day woman fighting to uncover the truth about a treasured painting.
