We popped the wildlife camera up at Diggers last week without success, however, Josiane put the camera by Kennels Cottage and captured these gorgeous videos!

Diggers location: New Forest

New Forest is our highest site here at Diggers and the views are just stunning! There are several view points to take in and the children often look into the distance; 'I can see for miles' and 'look there is a squiggly line from a farmers tractor'.

New Forest is a rural site boasting an abundance of large branches for den making, tree stumps to explore under, an extensive range of snails shells and the walk is an incline of twists and turns with plenty to see on the way.

Today the children were wanting to create fairy doors, fairy phones; to call them on and see what they have been doing and where they are and of course the hammock was available for resting and cloud spotting! A gorgeous morning out

Proud moment alert!

Here is our first harvest of our fruit and vegetables from Kennels Cottage. Well done and thank you to everybody involved in the planting, watering, picking and prepping process.

One of our weeks the children were focused on the letter S and therefore the sound ssss. When asking our children what do we know begins with S, one of the children said 'Science'.

Say no more; the children were experimenting with melting ice cubes and trying different methods to see what was more effective. The children made their predictions along the way.

With the introduction of natural colour in the flowers from our environments, we undertook a colour based experiment. The children were fascinated in watching the colours track up and across the paper.

The children have recently been on a scavenger hunt across our forest school environments and what fun they had.

Each child had a board with sticky tape on and a coloured square and the idea was to roam the environment, looking for natural items of that colour. The rest was up to each individual and don't they all look fantastic.

Our children always notice changes in the environment; from flowers appearing, new tree's and ever changing colour of the grass! It was nice to hear how much fun the children had looking high and low for their items and there were proud smiles all around, well done.

A spot of target practice!

This morning the children were given beanbags and then a series of targets were placed in the tree! It was fantastic to see the children challenge themselves and work collaboratively to reach the targets. Cable reels were bought over to get higher in hope of hitting thew target, what a great idea!

Diggers Location: Diggers Den

Diggers Den is situated on the opposite side of the field to Kennels Cottage. The area is elevated and it allows for the children to have a stunning view across Kennels Cottage but also South Harting itself; the children always say 'look we can see the church steeple'

Diggers Den boasts its own fire pit area, raised mud kitchen platforms; which are a firm favourite, a garden bench passed down through Alex's family for the children to sit on and take in the views and also a dedicated mud slide! The children are often seen in the hammock up at Diggers Den, taking it all in whilst resting and relaxing.

The route to Diggers Den is always full of awe and wonder; looking for minibeasts and bugs, observing the plants swaying in the breeze and we always remember to look up for various birds and not forgetting a bit of cloud spotting! It was only this week a child told us 'look that cloud looks a bit like a penguin'
