We are delighted to announce our newly elected Head Boy, Head Girl and School Council, who will represent our small but mighty school for this academic year!

They all truly deserve their place and we are very proud of them all!

They are all invited to represent our school at the Friends of the Tenth Memorial Service on Saturday 12th September where they will lay flowers during the ceremony on behalf of our school.

The Amwell Care Home is trying to ensure Barbara (a great grandma of one of our lovely children!) receives 100 birthday cards on her 100th birthday!

Born and raised in Burton Lazars, Barbara is a devoted grandma and great-grandma and deserves to be spoilt!

Is your child due to start school in September 2027?

Choosing a Primary School for your child can be a daunting prospect and our lovely team at Somerby Primary School want to make this process as easy as possible for you!

We would like to welcome you to come and look around our small but mighty school; give you time to talk to the teachers; have a little play and ask as many questions as you need to!

We have planned dates for September and October 2026, which you will see on the flyer, but if these dates don't suit you, simply give us a ring and we will find a time that fits.

From 1st June 2026 we are also able to offer an "Early Bird Club" starting at 8am to support our working families.

We look forward to meeting new prospective parents and showing off our wonderful school environment.

Somerby Primary School is excited to be at the Somerby Village Fair on Saturday 🐝

We will be selling a range of lovely items to raise money for our small, but mighty school 🏫 including:

- home made knitted bee keyrings

- gift cards of a beautiful watercolour of our school

- a limited edition water colour print

- guess the sweets in a jar

- crafts for children to enjoy

- a mini sports' day

One mighty shout out to the staff of Somerby Primary School for their incredible efforts this week to support our children in the intense heat we have experienced 🥵

Their creative sides have shone through: fans; trays filled with water to cool down feet; hose pipe fun; water fun and frozen wet wipes, to name but a few, to try and keep everyone cool in an attempt to stay open to support our working families 🙏

They are a small but mighty team - one in a million 🐝

Here's to a cooler end to the term 😎

"Thank a Teacher Day".

I would like to say heartfelt thanks to my amazing team at Somerby Primary School 🐝

Our teaching staff work incredibly hard to ensure our children's experiences at school are happy and memorable and are accountable for the progress our children make from EYFS to Y6, preparing them for the next step of education every step of the way.

They couldn't do their job as well as they do without our fabulous support staff who go above and beyond to ensure our teachers and our children are supported. They are the icing on the cake!

That said, none of us could do our job without our admin support, cleaning support, lunch support and the wider team who help to keep our school a lovely place to attend on a day to day basis.

They all make my job easier as a result of being such a mighty team.
