Today, I have two lessons with year 9, introducing algebra. We are starting by creating an expression for the fruit and vegetables on the table. No matter what age, practical work aids understanding and provides opportunities for using correct terminology.

There was some really creative work with vocabulary this evening with two 'eleven plus groups.'
Each child used a net of a cube to make their own box. Then, they filled the box with exciting words to learn. We focussed on vocabulary connected with feelings and found synonyms and antonyms. Children designed their own 11 plus questions and shared their new found knowledge with others.
