Starting the calculation before fully understanding the question.
Teach your child:

STOP → READ → UNDERLINE → THINK → SOLVE

Ask:
👉 What information do I have?
👉 What am I being asked to find?
👉 Which information actually matters?

Good problem solvers don't just calculate quickly.

They think carefully first.

The 10-Minute Reading Habit 📚

Want to help your child prepare for the 11+ without adding hours of revision?

Try this:
⏰ 10 minutes of reading every day.
After reading, ask:
• What happened?
• Why did it happen?
• How did the character feel?
• Which words stood out?
• Can you summarise it in one sentence?

Small daily habits can build powerful reading skills.
11+ Tip: Don’t just ask, “Did you enjoy it?” Ask questions that make your child THINK about the text.

WHY WOULDN'T YOU INVEST IN YOUR CHILD'S FUTURE?

I'm Emma. After 25 years of teaching in Primary education. I kept seeing common struggles with families wanting their children to take the 11+. "Lack of understanding of what the papers would contain alongside struggles with timings". So I moved into tutoring to give families a simple plan that sticks.
