At the end of the line. The unloading ramp at Auschwitz- Birkenau A few steps from the monstrous gas chambers. Contemplating the unspeakable crimes of the N***s. Our guide (two of her uncles perished in the camp) spoke very movingly to our students.About the need to visit here - so as not to forget - and to challenge those who deny the Holocaust ever happened.

Well done Hugo!

Today a Year 7 history fan, Hugo, was inspired to bring in a WW1 medal that belonged to his great, great grandfather. Thank you for sharing your family history, Hugo - you must be very proud!

"Hi Sir, I've brought you in something you might be interested in" Nearly fell off my chair when I was handed this! A N**i Germany civil service medal for long service. Found by the lad's dad during a house clearance. Really love it when students hot foot it to you to show you a bit of history they have come across.Fab.

What a fantastic tribute from the Gallipoli Association to our Gallipoli themed Remembrance Assembly.

What a fantastic tribute from the Gallipoli Association to our Gallipoli themed Remembrance Assembly.

Congratulations to the staff and students of Upper Wharfdale School, North Yorkshire, for putting on a superb Gallipoli themed Remembrance Commemoration.

The whole school listened to a forty five minute presentation on the campaign, put together by the fantastic student leadership team. It included details of the campaign, biographies of locals who served, video clips letters and poetry, all of which the students had researched themselves.

They invited our Trustee and Education Officer Ian Binnie to contribute with a presentation on what it means to honour Gallipolians in 2023. The behaviour and attitude of the three hundred and fifty students in the audience was superb.

Who dares say that young people today are not interested in remembrance?

Earlier in the year Upper Wharfdale School students participated in a project to produce a Gallipoli themed mosaic. This now hangs proudly in the school foyer

More photos of the day are hopefully to follow and we hope to be sharing some of those with you.
