Hi

It's that time of year again when there are bugs galore doing there rounds, unfortunately chicken pox is also adding to the list.

If your child has chicken pox they are likely to be poorly for a few days/week before the spots come out - off there food, tired, nothing that you can pinpoint they are just not themselves.

Once’s the spots start to appear please be aware not to use any ibuprofen as this can make chicken pox worse.

Best advice I have been given is:

Give calpol
Antihistamine for the itching
And a special moose from boots called PoxClin to help with the itchy and drying up of the spots.

I'd like to share a link about a childminder and her experience at how serious chicken pox can be.

In the majority of cases children sail through without any issues other that itching and feeling a little unwell - but children shouldn’t be taken to parties for them to “catch” chicken pox.

So please be vigilant and keep children at home if they have chicken pox.

If you think that your child is unwell please refer to the illness chart below.

Most see it as no more than a harmless childhood illness, but chickenpox can kill, as grieving mum Angie Bunce-Mason found out...
