I’m pleased to share that the Kumon Sittingbourne Study Centre is now officially Ofsted registered. This means higher safeguarding standards and also allows many families to save on fees through four government‑approved schemes. Parents who already have Childcare Vouchers can now use them with Kumon, offering around a 30% saving. Many working parents may be eligible for Tax‑Free Childcare, which provides a 20% government contribution towards fees. Families receiving Universal Credit can claim back up to 85% of their monthly Kumon costs, and parents in full‑time higher education may qualify for the Childcare Grant, also covering up to 85%. If you would like help checking which scheme applies to you or how to set it up, please feel free to contact us.

Focus isn’t magic 🪄…..it’s trained.

Kumon used daily repetition to help children strengthen their concentration, build stamina and stay engaged for longer. Over time, those small repeated steps turn into powerful independant study habits and long lasting confidence.

This is how Kumon grows focus : one worksheet, one moment of concentration, one win at a time.

Strong years start with strong habits.
When students make daily study part of their routine, they build confidence step by step and stay motivated as the work becomes more familiar. That consistency helps them strengthen skills, stay on track with their goals, and create steady progress that lasts all year long. With a little practice each day, they’re setting themselves up for a strong, successful year ahead. 💙✨

If you’ve ever wondered,
“Why won’t my child just read chapter books without pictures?”
you’re not alone — and your child is not behind.

This carousel explains what’s really happening during the Transitional / Bridge Reader stage, a critical phase in early literacy development.

At this stage, children are doing a LOT at once when they read:
📖 decoding words
🧠 holding meaning
🎬 visualizing scenes
🧭 tracking characters and plot
❤️ understanding emotions

That’s a heavy cognitive load.

Pictures are not shortcuts.
They are scaffolding — supporting comprehension, imagination, stamina, and confidence while fluency is still developing.

Here’s the big truth educators know:
Children don’t outgrow pictures because they’re told to.
They outgrow them when their brain no longer needs them.

Skipping this stage too early can lead to:
❌ reading fatigue
❌ reduced comprehension
❌ burnout and frustration

The natural reading progression matters:
Decoding → Transitional/Bridge → Chapter books (some pictures) → Chapter books (no pictures)

Progress is happening — even when it looks quiet.

Strong readers are built through patience, consistency, and respect for brain development, not rushing milestones.

If your child is learning to read and you want to support fluency the right way, this is for you.
