Hello Everyone, POTENTIAL NEW ART CLUB VENUE

firstly thank you to Paula for forwarding my email to you all and for putting it on her page.

As some of you may already know, I have started to look for a venue from which we can continue Paula's legacy, although in a slightly different format.

I have found a possible venue to rent, from which I hope to host the art groups. It is my dearest wish that we can continue in our groups with our pastel drawing, acrylics, water colours and drawing classes. Where possible, I will try to keep the groups on the same days but there will be no actual teacher. That is why it will be run as an art club and not classes. Maybe in the future we can find some teachers to help, or run Saturday workshops, or maybe Paula might be able to do a few.

At this early stage, I cannot tell you exactly how much the sessions will be yet or how and when monies will be paid (for example, weekly, monthly or longer). I hope to be able to keep the fees similar to before. I am waiting on the rental offer from the landlord. It may turn out that it is not viable. I cannot sign up to any rental agreement if I do not have enough " bums on seats " to cover the rent..... hence this message to you all. If you are genuinely interested, I would appreciate confirmation of this as soon as possible.

What I can tell you is that it is a lovely square room with windows on the ground floor, within a larger building. It has its own front door and has access to toilets in a nearby corridor. The room itself has a small kitchen, a store room and it is close to Lidl in the town centre. There is public car parking a short walk away and I will have some designated parking for blue badge holders. I know that we would all like to park right outside but places with parking are far too expensive to rent, sorry!

So can please let me know by 12 noon this Friday (29th September) if you are interested. You can reply to me via email, or call me. I need to know:

a) if you are interested
b) your name, contact details
c) what groups you attended and on what days
d) if you are a blue badge holder

Hi Everyone

It is with sadness and regret that I have to inform you that Tillys Art ceased trading last Friday (1st Sept 2023) after twelve years of trading.

As you may all remember, when Covid finished and businesses could re-open, I informed you all that the bank had advised me to close. I put out feelers to find out if you were all willing to support me if I re-opened and I had a very positive reply from you all.
Sadly, non of us could have foreseen the financial climate we were about to have in Britain when the decision to re-open was made.

Understandably everyone has had to pull in their belts financially and sadly I am in the bracket of businesses labelled “Luxury”. As a result I have been running at a loss for the last two years . My lease finishes with ARC racing and they want to put the rent up to an amount that cannot viably be carried across to you all in fees.

I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and tutoring every one of you and want thank you all for your support throughout the twelve years I have traded.

For the Monday afternoon group, I am aware that I owe you for 4th Sept 2023 which will now not take place. I am also aware that I still have some Artworks that people have not picked up from the Exhibition last week.

On Sunday 24th Sept 2023 I will open the studio doors between 1pm and 3pm so that I can refund monies to the Monday group, give people the opportunity to pick up the works from the exhibition and sell any items that you may be interested in purchasing. For example, tables, chairs, paints, paper, pads, cupboards, filing cabinets, free standing shelving, easels etc...I will accept cheque or cash. Please note, I need the items taken away within the following week.
I cannot do this on any other day as I am on holiday during September and starting another job on my return.

Thank you all for being such lovely people, I wish you all well in the future and sincerely hope you all keep your Art going. Every one of you are amazing.

WELL DONE TO EVERY MEMBER OF TILLYS ART WHO HAVE PUT THIER HANDS IN THIER POCKETS AND DONATED MONIES FOR MACMILLAN CANCER RESEARCH.
WE HAVE, SO FAR, RAISED A FABULOUS SUM OF £738 THROUGH HAVING OUR MEMBERS EXHIBITION LAST WEEK.

Some of you may have seen this at the exhibition. It was completed just a few hours before the closing for entries and finished by one of the Drawing group members.

One of our Tillys Art members went on to go to University. Not only did Jessica do a BA Hons in Fashion and Design but also went on to do a Masters in the subject.
If you go along to Swale Media Art Centre, High Street, Sittingbourne between 29th August and 16th September you will see an exhibition called DREAMSCAPE.
Jessica along with 7 other ladies are showing their works there.
Normal opening times are Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm daily.

Jessica has also invited all members of Tillys Art to the Private Preview this Friday between 12.00 and 16.00. There will be cake and other bits too.

I would download the beautiful poster, but for some reason, I cannot get it on this page!!

Many thanks go to those who helped organise the cakes and tombola. Thank you to all who contributed to the tombola and came along on the day with full pockets and friends in tow.
We do not have a final amount yet but I believe we are likely to hit over £1000 this year. Well done everyone!!!
