Operating as usual
The Long Game, which is a charitable organisation that is focused on:
• Creating peer support resources that support autistic students and graduates to establish and develop their careers.
• Developing resources and events that challenge the false stereotypes of what it means to be autistic and reduces the stigma and prejudice the autistic community face.
We officially launch at the end of the month and I will send out our web address and social media links then.
Our launch event takes place between 1.15 - 3pm on the 27th October at Sheffield Hallam University and we are hosting a focus group that provides autistic students with the opportunity to share their views on what is important to them in relation their employability needs and how they'd like to be supported. The data will then be used to shape the work of the charity over the coming years, although, we already have a number of opportunities available for this academic year. Participants will be paid £50 for their time and they do not need to be an SHU student to attend.
If you know current students who may want to participate please share this opportunity with them - below is some promotional text you could use.
Would you like to earn £50 by sharing your thoughts on the careers support you need? Gemma Long, who is autistic, has recently set up a charitable organisation that focuses on providing employability support to enable autistic students and graduates to begin and grow their careers. On the 27/10/21, as part of the launch of the charity, she is holding a focus group to gather the views of current students and the information will then be used to shape the resources and events the charity provides. If you would like to take part in the focus group, which is taking place at the city campus between 1.15pm - 3pm, or you would like to be added to the mailing list to find out more about the charity, please contact Gemma directly at [email protected]
