Busy Little Bees Home

Fine motor skills 🤏🏼
- This week the children have been working on their fine motor skills. We have been learning to use scissors safely and have been cutting & sticking recycled objects to create new artwork.
We have also been enjoying exploring play-dough with a variety of different tools and resources such as rolling pins, sticks, wooden hammers & also chickpeas & split peas. 🫛
We rolled the play dough into balls which we spoke about being big and small. We also rolled the play-dough into long shapes and said they look like worms 🪱
We have also enjoyed puzzles 🧩 and cutting our own food for meals 🥒
These activities are helping the children to develop their fine motor skills, supporting their hand strength, hand eye coordination and in turn helping to develop their early writing skills. ✍🏼

Colours 🎨
- We have been exploring colours and finding out what happens when you mix colours together. The children painted their hands using different primary colours (red, yellow & blue) and then rubbed their hands together to create new colours 🎨 They discovered how to make orange, green & purple 🧡💚💜
We then continued this activity by using cotton buds and brushes to mix all the colours together. We made brown, dark green, oranges and so many other colours. The children also added some white and made pastel colours 🎨🥰

A fabulous morning visiting a fellow childminders house to explore winter and catch up with friends 🥰
- We enjoyed building our own igloos using sugar cubes! This was a great activity for developing the children’s fine motor skills, problem-solving, patience, and basic engineering/geometry as they learn to balance, stack, and create stable structures.
- sticking with the igloo theme, we created igloos using paint, blocks and snowflakes!

We recently ordered these coloured peg people and safe to say they’ve been a massive hit! The children have enjoyed not only colour matching but also using their imaginations and role playing with the people, using the cups for their home corner kitchen, building and so much more!

This week we have been exploring our new Busy Book 📖
We have learned colour matching, animal matching, shapes & a personal favourite was the shopping list page 😍 Also loving our emotions sheet and positions sheet!

- This morning we joined our fellow tiney childminders for The Big Toddle around in support of Barnados Charity 💚 We had so much fun, exploring the woods, in the park and then onto a picnic in the ☀️
