Schools have been talking about the importance of Ramadan to Muslims, and have been looking at how Ramadan and Lent both 'give something up', and talking about what they would be prepared to 'give up' for something, or someone, they believed in. Students took part in a Q&A session, researched a variety of careers involving animals, and created their own version of guess who using photographs of their own pets. Other students working on the careers event also set up some activities in the form of an escape room. One student chose darts and The Sopranos as an escape room, while another chose a nursery setting. The last student chose a puzzle solving room. Between them, they demonstrated team work and problem solving. Staff members took part in the escape rooms.

Students took part in a careers event, where they all engaged and worked as a team to regenerate the area outside the back of one of the buildings. They previously organised what they would be doing and while doing it they worked on transferable skills such as communication, problem solving, team work and working towards a shared goal.

A year 9 student got the choice of looking at an artist, musician, writer or performer that has influenced them.

The student chose to write about a singer/songwriter called Ejae Kim Eun-Jae, from Kpop Demon Hunters, a Korean animated film that was released on Netflix last year. The student used Picsart to create the document, all for an ASDAN lesson.

Last week, a year 9 student independently researched and evaluated the life and work of Charles Darwin in history using prompting keywords as a focus point. The student used these keywords to find out more about how evolution happens, and the expedition Darwin took to discover his findings.

The student then watched a Fatboy Slim video on YouTube to understand the theory of evolution in a more visually appealing way.

Last week during a food tech lesson, a student from Teaseldown school used complex skills to showcase a practice dish for an NEA (Non-exam Assessment).
The tortellini šŸ was made from scratch, as was the lasagna, and it showcased their ability to work to a method, and complete the task within a given time, using the skills they have learnt.
