🤔 Wondering what difference a Runlates class might make to your running? This is what some of our recent medalists have to say!
🏃🏻♀️Runlates was born from personal experience and curiosity - and the more I (Vic, founder) learn, the more I’m convinced we’ve created a fantastic way to build resilience to injury.
🤓 Combining thorough Merrithew® | STOTT PILATES® STOTT Pilates training and The Running School biomechanical knowledge as a Certified Running Technique Coach, in each class we focus on strength, mobility and the movement patterns we need to be able to achieve for an efficient gait.

🤩 She’s back! The lovely Eva Cserhati is back from her travels and ready to look after you all in my absence 🙏
Eva will be covering my classes tomorrow, then back to her Monday favourites next week 🤗
I meanwhile will be tackling some French mountains in a heatwave, the kit list for which includes a rather fetching ‘safari hat’ - look out for this on Runlates stories! 🫣🥵🤠
Have a fabulous weekend all!

❓Did you know we have three BEGINNER-friendly classes every week? 🤗
We call these ‘Relaxed’ classes, a more gentle pace with simple sequences to allow YOU time to get to grips with what we’re doing, and US enough time to offer you any feedback and assistance you might need 😊
We have clients who stick with these classes as they enjoy the relaxed feel of them, and others who start here before progressing. Either is fine by us!
*If you have any underlying medical conditions or are returning from injury, we always recommend a 1-2-1 with one of our instructors first so we can explore the best ways to make you comfortable in class, and ensure you’re working safely. 🥰
RELAXED PILATES (Matwork)
Mondays 9.20am
RELAXED REFORMER (Reformer Pilates)
Mondays 6.30pm
Fridays 10.30am
Come along and join us sometime 🧘

‘Snuggle’ - a surprisingly common word in classes last week 🤔
I’m not sure if it was influenced by the gloomy weather or mild fatigue but it just felt like the PERFECT word to describe what I was trying to cue...
Specifically, that feeling of comfortable stability at the shoulder that allows you to then move freely with control. The arm is ‘snuggled’ into the shoulder joint and I love to think of the rotator cuff literally hugging it into place. ‘Nestle’ is another word I quite like for that!
Anatomically and biomechanically I know it’s more nuanced - but I think we can all recognise how it feels (often after a few shoulder shrugs) when you feel like your arm is really connected into your shoulder, your shoulder into your back, and everything is able to work TOGETHER 🥰
Then, we add load to strengthen that position! 💪
We’re continuing with some shoulder work in the Reformer Pilates classes this week, so if you fancy a snuggle, come and join us! 😉🤗

👀 It’s not all about the Reformer, there are plenty of other PROPS we can use to keep you motivated, challenged and supported in class! 🤗
⭕️ We can use the circle to aid stability at the shoulder, or add challenge for the hips…
🌀 Rollers can help to open up the front of the body, supporting spinal extension and strengthening the posterior chain…
🥎 Balls can be used to challenge core stability, or support finding good alignment at the knee and ankle…
🙆 And we love a flex band for their versatility - aiding mobility at the hip and shoulder, and adding resistance to some familiar favourites!
That’s not to mention the blocks, pads and padded mats we can use to get you comfortable 🥰
Do you have a favourite? 🙋🏻♀️

😃 LOVE IT when the weather forecast is pessimistic and we get to enjoy an unexpectedly cool, breezy and DRY trot after class!
We chatted Mandarin, Italian lakes and half marathon training plans on today’s Run & Stretch - surprisingly no mention of food! (Written whilst munching on .coffee.van tiffin 😋)
Another lovely morning of Pilates and running in this beautiful spot with some excellent company 👌
