Fly with the heroes.
Where legends once flew — the only Lancaster simulator that can truly claim this.
LBFS lets you take the controls.
History isn’t behind glass — it’s alive, and you’re in the pilot’s seat.

Meet your flight crew — from left to right: Flight Instructor Blay W., owner of LBFS and Chief Flight Instructor Fozzi, and yours truly, Paul R., Flight Ops Manager and instructor‑in‑training. One of us was actually in the guess who?

Three blokes, one Lancaster Sim, and far too much enthusiasm for things that make noise and smell of aviation fuel.

Paul here with the tale of three Folland Gnats — because of course one wasn’t enough.

Top: the Gnat I flew in the 90s at Chino, California. Tony Ostermeier — the owner — is at the controls during an engine run‑up, while I’m grinning like someone who’s just been handed the keys to a former Red Arrows No.7.
Bottom left: me with my (then very young) twins at the FAST Museum in Farnborough, standing in front of another Gnat. Funny thing — as a kid I used to watch aircraft landing at the old RAE from my school window. Full circle stuff.
Bottom right: I recently found this original Gnat painting by David Howden for sale — now proudly displayed at Brighton City Airport.

Three Gnats. Three eras. One lifelong obsession.

A nice little find inside the main Art Deco building at our Shoreham (Brighton City) Airport.
I was wandering around between student flights and spotted this signed Lancaster painting hanging on the wall — absolute gem.

At our sim site here at the airport, we’ve also collected a range of Lancaster and aviation photos, all on display for customers, friends and family to enjoy.
Proper heritage, right where it belongs.

Fozzi and Paul have always had a thing for blades whirring dangerously close to their heads — and frankly, nothing’s changed.

Here we’ve got Paul wrestling a Gazelle around Chino Airport in California back in the early 2000s, before he returned to the UK… and Fozzi this year, casually taxiing out at Shoreham (Brighton City) Airport in the gyrocopter he flies courtesy of FlyGyrocopter.

Different aircraft, different decades — same pair of rotor‑addicted lunatics.

Paul here — I mentioned in an earlier post that 'JOURNEY TOGETHER' is available to watch on our website aviationsimse.com and on YouTube, but I couldn’t resist picking up the DVD as well. Great Lanc & Tiger Moth footage!
Looking forward to grabbing some downtime and giving it a proper viewing.

Avro Lancaster LM227 begins her very first take‑off run for a sortie on 4/5 July 1944 — sent off by men and women of the RAF station.
A moment of courage and history captured forever.
