Children stop listening long before parents stop talking.

Not because they are lazy. Not because they do not care.

Often, it is because they feel criticised, unheard, controlled, compared, judged, or overwhelmed.

When children hear constant correction, shouting, threats, lectures, or dismissive responses, they can learn to switch off. The more disconnected they feel, the less likely they are to listen.

The truth is that children respond best when they feel safe, respected, and understood. Connection comes before cooperation.

A powerful reminder that the words adults use every day can either build trust or slowly break it down.

Every parent, carer, teacher, and professional working with children needs to read this.

❤️ Share if you believe children deserve to be listened to too.

Last week the Bumblebees went on a trip to the train station! They talked about keeping safe, holding hands and wearing their high-visibility jackets. At the train station they talked about all the people who work on the train, and saw some of the GWR staff surveying and measuring the platform. They waved at some passengers, sang some songs and looked for some signs on the platform, learning about what they meant.
We were very proud of how the childred listened and followed instructions and kept themselves safe.
Well done Bumblebees! Choo Choo!

Not every meltdown is “bad behaviour”.
Not every shutdown is “rudeness”.
And not every child who looks “fine” is coping inside.

Sensory overload can feel like the world is too loud, too bright, too busy and too much all at once. Many neurodivergent children spend every day trying to hold it together until they simply cannot anymore.

What people often see is the reaction.
What they miss is the overwhelm underneath.

Children are not giving us a hard time - they are having a hard time.

More understanding changes everything. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is stop asking “What is wrong with this child?” and start asking “What is this child experiencing right now?”

If this message matters to you, share it so more parents, teachers, family members and professionals understand what sensory overload can really look and feel like.

This week, the Bumblebees have been exploring the vital role of nurses in celebration of International Nurses Day. Following the children's interests, they have engaged in various activities, including:
🚑 designing and constructing an ambulance model using cardboard
🚑 creating medicine by mixing water, using pipettes, and adding a touch of peppermint to stimulate their senses
🚑 crafting nurses' hats, carefully cutting out shapes and adorning them with a red cross emblem.
