Putting my feet on the ground 🌄

I was nervous to take my shoes off because I was worried what people might think of me walking bare foot, but the desire was there and I chose to answer the call

It made me more present and less focused on what someone might think seeing me

It made me more mindful of where I stepped, over stones, branches and thorns.
It slowed my usual fast stomp, I lingered in places a little longer and noticed things I hadn't before.

When it came to putting my shoes back on it felt so soft, cushioned and protected

It got me thinking about how we put on layers of protection in life so we disassociate & troop on in ignorance of our own discomfort.

The layers are a protection wrapping you up in a warm blanket & they play their part beautifully but sometimes they play to well & they begin to smother you & cut you off completely

To take off the layers is to become aware of the sensations within & open yourself up to the potential & possibilities of now

I used to create from my head but now I create from within.
I embody my artist & express it into my work & my life.

Through embodying the artist my work has grown; I am grounded & the spaces I hold feel different, I'm more intune with myself & what's around me.

When I'm not working I express myself through:
Writing songs
Dancing
Knitting

But these aren't seperate creations, they are intertwined.

Each creation fuels the other. 🔥

How do you express your artist?

Yes sometimes being busy is unavoidable but it shouldn't be the norm.

I used to pick up shifts & do a hobby every evening.
I'd be ill, I'd have mood swings & I realised a part of me enjoyed being the rescuer when I picked up a shift. Enjoyed being the one to save the day when no one else stepped up.

This wasn't healthy, it was feeding a part of me that was craving something that I should've been tending to and not outsourcing.

I've changed how I work but that part of me still shows up in different ways.

Tidying the house or scrolling my phone.

It sends me into avoidance when I'm starting to peel back something that is scared to be seen.

I'm recognising when the avoidance is happening & I am learning to turn inwards and listen.

I've had a wobble recently & it feels like everything I've built around me is just crumbling away.

I'm still moving through this wave but I know if I stop I would regret it.

It's raw & it's touching on parts of me that I haven't felt in a long time.

I'm tending to these parts but also staying grounded in my intention of what it is I am wanting to create.

I'm looking at the lessons that are being given to me & evolving.

I've met moments where fear has struck me still to the spot
But my biggest fear is missing out on life

Not in the FOMO sense, it's more personal than that something I've desired & somethings in my way, usually myself

How I meet these moments are what builds my resilience.

For those who don't know I was a singer in a band Mycelium Network

I remember the first time I got on stage, it was at a local festival & I'd never sang in front of people before
I was of full of anxious energy I thought I was going to throw up & pass out... I walked off stage half way through a song and my dad kept singing,
I went to the bathroom,
I stomped, I shaked & in that moment I had a choice,
Do I stay hidden in the stall or go back out
I went back out and finished the set & that anxious energy turned into creative & joyful adrenaline
From that moment something changed

I still expereince fear & anxiety, but I know I have the capacity to hold myself & face it

And you have a capacity greater than you may think

I've been enjoying tending to my garden. 🌻

She grounds & reminds me of the things that matter to me.

She opens me to different parts of myself & I meet each of them.

My inner child playing in the mud.
My inner mother nurturing the plants as they flower & fruit.
My wild woman with dirt under her nails.
