I didn’t win tonight but what a night anyway! 🏆
The Startup Awards at the Everyman Cinema in Leeds was just brilliant. So many incredible businesses in one room. Every single one of you should be dead proud of yourselves. I know I am.
This is exactly why I have loved becoming a founder this year— being in a room full of people who took a leap, backed themselves, and built something real. That positive energy is infectious 🙌
See you all at Ideas Fest! 👋

Cash Academy is officially 1 year old, and what a year it’s been!
Sorry for the long post, but we’re very proud of our first year and wanted to share a bit about our journey 🙂
In January 2025 there was no business name, no real plan and we had no idea what “Money Town” could look like.
What we did have was a real passion for ensuring children had access to learning about money and preventing them from making the same costly financial mistakes many of us have made in our adult life.
Deciding a business name felt like one of the hardest parts of starting up!
After thinking of Cash Academy it just felt right, and the business was created in May 2025 with our first social media posts to follow in June.
After 6 months of brainstorming and designing our Money Town and activities, our setup arrived and we delivered our first workshop in September 2025.
Since then we have delivered sessions to over 1500 children!
We have a full curriculum of resources launching in September this year so that learning can continue in the classroom, and ensuring educators feel prepared ahead of the curriculum changes in 2028.
We have built some brilliant relationships with schools, educators, community groups, local businesses and people who share the same mission as us.
And we are unbelievably proud of the fact we have a 100% re-booking rate, giving us the confidence to keep pushing on with what we are trying to achieve!
Over the next year we want Cash Academy to be the first name people think of when it comes to delivering financial education to children, and continue on our mission to bring money lessons to children all around the UK 🙌
And it goes with out saying, THANK YOU so much to all those who have supported us along the way, and especially the schools who have put the trust in us to deliver in your settings!
Let’s see what our 2nd year birthday review looks like in a years time!

Did anyone else see Good Morning Britain this morning? 🙋
GoHenry dropped their pocket money stats and the average is now £9.90 a week for kids aged 7 to 18.
That’s brilliant as I think pocket money is one of the best ways children can start building real money habits.
BUT…
£10 a week doesn’t teach a child how much renting costs.
Or why you can’t just blow your whole wage the minute you get paid.
Or that holidays don’t magic themselves into existence (no matter how hard we will it 😂)
Or that those tiny little bao bun toys that seem to be taking over may not be the best thing to spend your money on!
I know this because I was one of those children who grew up with no framework around money whatsoever and I felt the consequences of that well into adulthood. It’s a huge part of why I started Cash Academy.
Pocket money gives children the money. Cash Academy gives them the knowledge. 💛
So I want to know, do you give your kids pocket money?
And is it actually helping them understand the value of things, or do you still find yourself wondering if they really get it?
Do they understand what things cost, why we can’t just have everything we want, how money runs out fast when you’re not paying attention? And how much that £10 is actually worth.
Drop it in the comments, I’d love to hear what’s working.
If you are a school that wants to bring real-world financial education into the classroom through a hands-on, role play based, kids-actually-get-it kind of workshop, I’d love to hear from you. I’m booking for 2026/27 now and spaces are filling up!

💰 4 in 10 people in the UK have poor financial literacy.
That’s the finding of brand new research from The Richmond Project, the numeracy charity set up by Rishi Sunak. And this week he wrote in The Times calling for urgent change.
Some of the stats are worrying but expected as many don’t acquire this knowledge through schooling:
📉 Only 28% of UK adults could answer basic questions on compounding, inflation and financial risk
📉 Adults with very poor financial literacy are 4x more likely to say maths was their least favourite subject at school
📉 People with low financial knowledge are half as likely to be able to raise £1,500 in an emergency
The good news is that that government is now adding financial literacy to the national curriculum.
Change is coming.
Our children will get the knowledge that we didn’t.
But we don’t have to wait until 2028👇
At Cash Academy, we’ve been delivering financial literacy workshops in primary schools already and children love them.
🎭 They roleplay real-life scenarios — earning, spending, saving, making choices
➕ It’s all linked to the maths curriculum, so teachers love it too
😄 Children tell us the lessons feel real — not like school
💬 We regularly hear “that was the best lesson ever”
We work with children aged 5–11, and Y7-8, meeting them right where they are. Because the earlier we start, the better.
📅 We’re now taking bookings for the 2026–27 academic year and spaces are already going.
👩🏫 Teachers and school leaders, get in touch and let’s get something booked in.
👨👩👧 Parents — if your child’s school doesn’t offer this, please share this post.
Tag your school, drop it in the class WhatsApp, forward it to the headteacher.
You could be the reason every child in that school gets a Money Town experience.
Our children deserve to grow up money-confident. Let’s not wait until they’re adults to start. 💙

“Cash Academy recently visited our primary school to teach the children about money and the importance of being sensible with finances, and it was absolutely fantastic. The session leader was incredibly helpful, engaging, and knowledgeable, making complex ideas easy for the children to understand in a fun and interactive way.
The children had such a great time taking part in the activities and discussions, and it was wonderful to see them so excited about learning important life skills.
The visit left a genuinely positive impact on the children, and many were still talking about what they had learned afterwards.
We would highly recommend Cash Academy to any school looking to give their pupils an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience.”
