What has tuition looked like recently for me and my students? 📚

With A-Level exams approaching quickly, sessions have been fully focused on smart, targeted preparation.

We’ve been looking at recent mock exams to pinpoint exactly where marks are being lost and then turning those into clear areas for improvement. No guesswork, just a precise focus on what will have the biggest impact.

We’ve also been sharpening exam technique:
• Recognising the topic behind each question
• Choosing the right method with confidence (no more dreading integration questions!)
• Making sure core skills are accurate and consistent

We’ve also revisited Year 12 content, reinforcing that it’s often more straightforward than the newer material, and a great opportunity to secure valuable marks.

Another big focus has been reducing stress levels. Students know they can bring any ad hoc questions to sessions, and we’ll tackle them together, helping to clear up uncertainties quickly and build confidence at a crucial time.

It’s been so pleasing to see students improving week by week, growing in confidence and becoming more and more prepared with each session.

Wishing all my students the very best over the coming weeks, you’ve put in the work, now it’s time to show it 💪

📌 Looking ahead to June
I’m currently fully booked, but I’ll be opening up a small number of spaces from June onwards.
If you’re a Year 12 student (or parent/carer) wanting to feel more prepared and confident this time next year, feel free to get in touch to discuss further. 🙂

Feedback like this is always great to read.
A Level Maths is a big step up, and many students benefit from having calm, structured support in place early on, particularly in Year 12.

Building confidence and clear understanding now can make a real difference as the course progresses and exams approach.

I currently have a small number of spaces available and would be happy to chat if you feel that you, or your child, would benefit from some additional support.

📘 Finding Year 12 A Level Maths tough?

Struggling with topics like circles, trigonometry, or proof?

Each year, many students find the jump from GCSE to A Level Maths difficult, and that’s completely normal. It’s a big step up in both content and expectations.

Year 2 A Level Maths builds directly on the material covered in Year 1, so building strong foundations now is crucial. It also makes Year 13 feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

Here’s how I can help

✅ Fourteen years’ experience as a fully qualified teacher | Enhanced DBS
✅ Hundreds of students successfully supported through A Level Maths
✅ Calm, confidence-building one-to-one sessions
✅ Personalised support at the student’s own pace
✅ After mock exams, I analyse results to identify key gaps and prioritise workload so time is spent where it matters most

Now booking

I have a couple of spaces available at the moment. Once these are filled, I’m unlikely to have further availability until June.
If you’re in Year 12 and would benefit from extra support, or if you’re a parent wanting to get ahead early, feel free to message me for a chat.

🎉 1 year of Ben Vaughan Tuition! 🎉

I’ll be honest, I’ve definitely been guilty of not updating this page as much as I would have liked 😅 but this week felt like the perfect time to celebrate a big milestone.

I feel quite uncomfortable “putting myself out there” but I’m really proud I backed myself this time a year ago and it’s been really rewarding.

I still remember how exciting it was when my very first student signed up. Almost a year later, receiving this message from their mum was incredible and a real highlight of year 1.

Thank you so much to all my students and families for your support this past year, and thank you to the numerous people who have recommended me to others. Here’s to year 2! 📚

🌟 Student Success Story! 🌟
📚 My students have been putting in the effort, showing up with resilience, and pushing themselves to achieve their best, and the results are starting to shine through! ✨

I’m really proud of all of them!

A huge congratulations to one of my students who has just passed her maths mock for the first time! 🎉 Not only did she pass, but she was also right on the borderline of a Grade 5! 🔥 The smile on her face was absolutely priceless, and I couldn’t be prouder. 😊

With her dedication and can-do attitude, combined with my knowledge to target key areas and plan effective revision, we’re going to push even further! 🚀 Confidence is building, and we’re on a mission to secure that higher grade!

🛡️ Prioritising Student Safety in Tutoring 🛡️

Did you know that private tutoring is still unregulated in the UK? That means tutors aren’t legally required to have background checks or safeguarding training.

I recently attended a safeguarding course to stay up to date with best practices. I also have a fully clear enhanced DBS and a safeguarding policy in place, which is available on my website for full transparency.

📌 You can find my safeguarding policy here: www.benvaughantuition.co.uk/safeguarding

"You Don’t Have to Be Perfect to Succeed in Maths! 🎯📚"

A common myth in maths exams is that you have to get every question 100% right to do well. But the truth? Success isn’t about perfection—it’s about making a start and picking up every mark you can.

As questions get trickier towards the end of the paper, it’s easy to freeze, thinking, "I don’t know how to finish this!" But you don’t need the perfect final answer to score marks. Just showing your working, writing what you do know, can earn valuable marks.

Start the question, apply what you know, and move forward. That’s how you maximise your score!

💡 Tip: If you’re stuck, look at the marks available. Often, you can gain 1 or 2 marks just for attempting the first step!

One of my favourite times of the week is watching my daughter swim. When she started lessons, she couldn’t swim at all—now she’s confidently completing 25m and has passed Stage 3! ⭐️ The progress wasn’t obvious week to week, but with steady effort—little and often—she’s made huge strides.

Maths is no different—consistent practice builds confidence and skill, without the stress of last-minute cramming.

(P.S. No tuition Thursdays 5-8—I’ll be poolside cheering her on! 🏊‍♀️)

If you're considering maths tuition for next year, now is the perfect time to enquire.
You'll be at the top of the waiting list and have the pick of the time slots when spaces open up in June. 📚💡
