Short days, cold rock, busy walls… it’s a weird time of year.
Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, skipping it entirely, or just trying to keep warm — hope you find a pocket of fresh air and movement that feels good.

Have a good one 💕

Climbing with kids is brilliant… and occasionally absolute chaos. Here are a few things I’ve learned over the years that make it a lot smoother (and way more fun):

✨ 1. Keep the sessions short
They burn bright and fast. An hour of good vibes beats three hours of meltdown management.

✨ 2. Let them choose some of the climbs
Give them a couple of “you pick” problems. They love having a say, and it keeps the mood light.

✨ 3. Snacks. More snacks. And then extra snacks.
Honestly the most important tip. Hungry kids don’t climb. They riot.

✨ 4. Don’t over-coach
They don’t need perfect footwork at age 6. Let them explore, swing around, make weird beta choices. That’s half the joy.

✨ 5. Make it a game
Timed challenges, parkour in Font, matching holds, ‘spy the next foothold’… kids learn best when it feels like playing, not training.

✨ 6. At the crag: set your expectations low
You might get three climbs in. Or none. And that’s okay. Rope up, enjoy the day, embrace the faff.

✨ 7. Involve them in the “grown-up” bits
Packing the bag, coiling the rope, spotting, take a pad, learning knots. Little jobs make them feel part of it.

✨ 8. Celebrate the small stuff
Their first top-out, their first “I can’t… wait, I can!” moment, their first proper fall. Those are the wins.
Climbing with kids isn’t always smooth, but watching them fall in love with movement, problem-solving, and being outside is honestly magic. And if nothing else… you’ll get some great stories out of it. 😄🧗‍♀️🧗‍♂️🌲

Yoga isn’t just “good for climbing”…..it literally teaches your body to move better on the wall.

When you connect breath with movement, everything becomes smoother… less gripping, less rushing, more controlled.

It’s the same skill you rely on for those awkward rock-overs, techy slabs, and tense moments on steep ground.

If you want to work on that fluidity, join us for Yoga for Climbers every Wednesday at — 5.45pm and 7pm.

Come move, breathe, and see how it shows up in your climbing. 🧘‍♀️🧗‍♂️✨

🧘🏻‍♀️ Good Pain vs. Bad Pain

When practicing, it’s important to notice the difference between healthy discomfort and unhealthy pain:

✅ Good Pain

- Feels like a stretch in muscles or areas not used to moving.

- Disappears as soon as you come out of the posture.

- Helps your body open, strengthen, and adapt.

❌ Bad Pain

- Feels sharp, pinching, or continues after you’ve stopped.

- Easily aggravated by movement.

- Signals overstrain or possible injury.

💡 What to do:

If you feel bad pain, let the injured area rest. Instead, focus on gently working the surrounding muscles while keeping the sore part passive.

Learning to tell the difference is key to building a safe, sustainable practice on the mat and beyond.

It’s easy to celebrate a good result. But what about when things don’t go to plan?

When the flash pump hits too early.
When you misread the crux.
When the warm-up didn’t feel right.
When the nerves took over.

These are the moments that sting. But they’re also the moments that teach us the most.

We find out how we handle pressure, disappointment, unexpected conditions.
We see where our routines break down.
We learn how to come back stronger.

No one likes to “fail,” but every comp is part of the process, especially the ones that don’t end in a podium.

If you’re in that post-comp slump right now, take a breath.
Reflect. Learn. Move forward.

There’s wisdom in adversity!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who make it happen ❤️

To the ones loading up the car, driving across the country, sitting through long comps, carrying the kit, holding the rope, holding the space — thank you.

For the patient belays, the quiet pep talks, the post-session chips, and the selfless support…
We see you. And we’re so grateful.

Here’s to the dads in our Climb + Yoga community 🧗‍♂️🧘‍♂️🚗

Having a bad training session? What to do?

First of all: it happens. To all of us. Whether you’re dragging yourself up the warm-up or falling off your project in the same frustrating spot — some days just don’t go to plan.

So what can you do when things go sideways:

🧘‍♀️ Pause. Breathe. Check in.
Are you tired? Distracted? Hungry? Sometimes the body (or mind) just isn’t up for it, and that’s okay.

🧗‍♂️ Shift focus.
If your power’s off, work on movement. If you’re pumped, do footwork drills. If you’re just not feeling it, do something low pressure and fun.

📓 Reflect.
A “bad” session can still be a useful one. What did you notice? How did you respond? That’s gold for your growth, even if it didn’t feel shiny in the time.

🌱 Be kind to yourself.
Progress isn’t linear. You’re allowed to have off days. Your body’s doing its best — don’t beat it up when it needs a break.
