Want to sneak a little learning into your summer without any complaints? Give this water balloon maths splash a try! 💦 Target practice makes learning times tables irresistible.

All you need is pavement chalk, water balloons, and a waterproof marker.

How to play:

Write times table questions on the ground using chalk.

Write the matching answers on your water balloons.

Have your child aim and throw the balloon at the correct question on the patio!

Adapt it for any learning goal:

🔤 Phonics: Write sounds or tricky words on the ground and capital letters on the balloons.

➕ Early Addition & Subtraction: Perfect for number bonds to 10 or 20.

💬 Foreign Languages: Match English words to French or Spanish translations.

Top Tips:

Spread your questions out! When a water balloon pops, the chalk instantly washes away. Spacing them out stops neighbouring questions from accidentally disappearing - especially while little ones are still working on their aim! 🎯

Make clean-up a game: Talk about the importance of being environmentally friendly. Encourage kids to hunt for every tiny piece of balloon residue at the end so local wildlife stays safe. 🌿
