Back to the French play... which is Roger Vitrac’s brilliant surrealist comedy, Victor ou les enfants au pouvoir. The plot? In short:
It is Victor’s ninth birthday but he has a presentiment he won’t live beyond it. So before the day is out, with his six-year-old sidekick Esther, he will confuse, offend, ridicule and terrorize his adult entourage – starting with the housemaid Lili, his adulterous father, doting mother, and their bizarre neighbours and guests. Come and meet Victor – il est terriblement intelligent!
You can get tickets (£5) for either performance (or both!) on the Cercle Français website in the SU (links in our linktree bio!):
Here for 7.30pm Tues 18th March https://shorturl.at/he2sz

Interested in being part of a French play this year? Here’s an exciting opportunity from David McCallam to get involved:
We’re launching the French play for this year - so this is a call to all would-be actors, backstage crew and general helpers from all years and all courses to come and get involved. It is great fun - you’ll work with people from all years and work lots in/with French.
Absolutely no previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to commit to regular, weekly rehearsals and to be part of a dynamic, innovative troupe!
So an initial meeting for expressions of interest and general information will take place next week - Thurs 31 Oct, 4pm, Hicks Building, Lecture Theatre A (the doors for this lecture theatre are down the hall to the left of the main entrance to Hicks).
The French play will be part of this year’s Modern Language Drama Festival, currently scheduled for two weeks in the Drama Studio beginning Mon 17 March 2025. Other languages and student societies will also be putting on shows.
Hope to see lots of you there next Thursday!
and are coming together for a cheese and wine night!
We’ll be providing a variety of food (including cheese, pizza, bread, and snacks) but kindly ask that you bring your own wine and drinks to enjoy throughout the evening.
Tickets are available in our bio!
See you all on Thursday 🇫🇷 🇮🇹
