South Yorkshire District SCC

Today marks another transition across Eastern Area, the 1st of April sees South Yorkshire District in its current form cease to exist, but alongside Chesterfield, Mansfield and Worksop form the North West District of Eastern Area.

For those of you who have been around the Sea Cadets for some time will know changes of this nature have occurred before and we embrace these changes.

This transition has a number of aims, including:

- Greater training opportunities,
- increase District teams and support
- A greater consistency across the Districts in number of Cadets and volunteers.

We thank you for supporting South Yorkshire District and how you will continue to support the Units of South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire as North West District.

Good luck to those Cadets from
South Yorkshire at the Area Drill and Piping tomorrow. You have been working hard. What ever the result a massive BZ to you all.

Another busy weekend, well done once again to those trainers who support further staff development modules and those staff who were able to attend to develop their knowledge to aid in the cadet experinece.

BZ to the staff for South Yorkshire who attended the Core Drill at Sheffield today. The staff giving their time to develop and take skills back to their units.

We look forward to next weekend where more staff will be developing their seamanship skills and working with young people.

The Senior Boys made it to the semi finals, where they were beaten by the eventual class winners.

The Senior Girls went on to win there class I the final.

A massive BZ to all.

A massive Bravo Zulu to former Prince's Trust Team Leader John Daley has been recognised in the King's New Year's Honours list.

Colour Sergeant John Daley, who is Detachment Commander for Sheffield Royal Marine Cadets, helped improve the life chances of dozens of young people both through his work with the Princes Trust and whilst volunteering for Sheffield Unit.

He was been named a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for services to Young People and to the community in Sheffield.

With the run up to Christmas, Sheffield Sea Cadets decided to help those in the community who may be struggling. Between them they raised awareness of S6 Foodbank a part of the Trussel Trust in the process brought in food and hygiene products to donate at this difficult time of year.

Our Juniors alongside Santa and Rudolph helped deliver it and take a look at the vital work this charity does.

Please, keep checking your cupboards. Even the smallest donation can make a massive impact.
