With curriculum reform placing increasing emphasis on knowledge, reading and vocabulary, helping children learn the language of the curriculum is more important than ever.

I'm so excited to share Episode 51 of Talking Their Language with Helen Bodell - Family Language Planning with Dr Eowyn Crisfield | Supporting Bilingual and Multilingual Children.

In this episode, I'm joined by Dr Eowyn Crisfield, PhD to explore family language planning, bilingualism, multilingualism and, importantly, linguistic inclusion.
We talk about how families can make intentional decisions around language use at home, how we can support children to develop and maintain their languages, and why creating spaces where all languages are valued and included matters so much.

✨ What linguistic inclusion looks like in practice

One of the things I love about this conversation is the reminder that language is so much more than communication. It connects children to their families, cultures, identities and communities.

If we are serious about inclusion, we need to think about linguistic inclusion too.

Our NEW EAL Younger Learners Teaching Vocabulary Pack for Maths: Shape has been created to support younger learners in developing the essential mathematical vocabulary they need to participate confidently in lessons.

The pack includes:
