Something relatable for a Saturday… maybe this happened to you before (or today!)...🤔
For educators everywhere, because running into school life outside school always feels a little surreal! 😄 Enjoy your weekend! 💛

"How exactly is Twinkl adapting to the new NI Literacy Framework?" 🤔
It's the big question on every primary teacher's mind right now.
We promised we are working hard behind the scenes —and now, we want to show you exactly what that looks like. To make sure this program perfectly addresses your practical classroom challenges , we've been hosting focus groups with local primary schools, gathering direct insights from the teachers and educators on the front lines.
Our Educational Content Lead for Twinkl Northern Ireland, Daniel Wilcox, has recorded a full walk through presentation outlining our measured, Science of Reading approach to the upcoming changes.
What's Covered in the Video:
An overview of the upcoming changes to Phonics in Northern Ireland.
A first look at our Level 2 teaching prototypes (including the /s/ and /g/ sounds!).
How we are structuring a whole-school programme perfectly tailored to our local accent and educational landscape.
Details on how you can get involved in our upcoming pilot schemes!
We are committed to getting this right, which means taking the time to build a robust, thoughtful scheme that saves you from double-work down the line.

🍿 Can't watch the full video right away? Don't worry. Keep an eye on our grid over the next few weeks - we’ll be dropping bite-sized Shorts breaking down Daniel's key tips, pure sounds, and teaching strategies.

If your teacher WhatsApp groups or staffrooms feel a bit chaotic right now, you are definitely not alone. With Transform Ed and the new Literacy Strategy on the horizon, it feels like everyone is scrabbling around, rushing for immediate answers and quick-fix resources. But we want to offer you a different approach: a quiet, measured breath. ☕
Now, taking a breath doesn't mean we’re sitting on our hands until September! Far from it. Our incredible team of local Northern Irish teachers, expert writers, and editors are already deep in production. They are actively building, drafting, and mapping out materials using the official guidance and framework details that have been released so far. Because they know our classrooms inside out, they are working hard behind the scenes right now to ensure you get the exact high-quality, beautifully edited, and perfectly tailored resources you expect from us. But here is our promise: we are being intentional and measured. Instead of rushing half-cooked resources out the door just to hit a deadline , we are waiting until the completed Literacy Strategy is officially released this September to finalize everything. The absolute last thing you need is to download something now, only to spend your precious Sundays re-mapping it later because the final guidelines shifted. We are doing the waiting so you don't have to do the double-work.
To our loyal members who trust us with your classrooms week in, week out: thank you. Your support means everything to us. You already know we always have your back, and this is no different. Relax - we are all over this, and we won’t let you down. And if you’re new around here, or just keeping an eye on us: welcome to the staffroom! We’ve been listening closely to your conversations , taking notes on your exact pain points , running focus groups with local primary schools, and sitting down with local educators to make sure we get this right for you.
Let’s drown out the panic, look at the guidance we have, and take it one step at a time.
P.S. Want a reassuring sneak peek of what we’re building right now? Our Educational Content Lead, Daniel, has just walked through our adapted phonics prototypes in a brand-new video. 🎥👇🔗
