So I’m just going put this out there...
Let’s call the shootings in America what they are. An act of terrorism committed by a racist with an Asian s*x fe**sh who had fantasies of white supremacy.
When Islamic extremists blow up a ton of people, no one says “they were having a bad day”.
Asian hate crimes have risen 149% in the US during the pandemic. God knows how much the true figure is, here OR in the U.K., because I can guarantee it’s under reported.
Anyone who thinks it doesn’t happen in the U.K. is blind, or ignorant because it hasn’t happened to them (because they’re White). Ask any Asian friend if they’ve had racist comments, hate shouted at them, been abused or even assaulted. You’ll be shocked by the response. I know. I’ce moved secondary schools because of racist bullying.... I’ve personally took a trip to A&E for a head x-Ray after having my head stamped in while being told “to go back to my own country chink”. I’ve had too many “no haos” and “konnichiwas” shouted at me to count.
Racism has been given free reign under Trump and conservative rule. It’s time to address the issue and change the narrative both government and media are putting out there, because it’s wrong, and it’s resulting in deaths.

Like this post if you’ve ever walked alone in the evening with your keys between your fingers ready to stab someone in the face if they attack you.
Like this post if you’ve ever crossed the road to see if a man was following you.
Like this post if you’ve ever been catcalled.
Like this post if you’ve ever changed seats on the bus because a man was sat too close or made you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Like this post if you’ve ever been s*xually assaulted.
Like this post if you’ve ever been in an abusive relationship.
I’ll go first and say yes. TO EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
I’m going to place a bet and say every single one woman who reads this is going to hit like. Because we have ALL experienced feeling unsafe, unwanted advances, abuse, fear... Men do not face the same issues women do. Because s*xual harassment, violence and harassment of women is universal. We ALL experience it in our lifetimes. THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE. Teach your sons to do better, so we don’t need to teach our daughters how to be safe.

International women’s day!
Today is such an important day to celebrate and use as a platform to discuss issues women face. The disparities between men and women are just as stark as ever... perhaps brought to light even more so during the pandemic. It’s women shouldering the bulk of the home schooling, housework... falling in to the traditional roles of history. Sacrificing their careers, struggling to balance their work life and home life, being a mother and a professional. More women have been made redundant than men during the pandemic. Women’s jobs are 19% more at risk than men’s. The pandemic has set equality back massively, when progress was being made but things were far from equal.
For pregnant women, the pandemic has negatively impacted birth experiences and outcomes. Pregnant women have been left to labour unaided, their care pared back, and support left outside the birth room.
And yet, despite the challenges we have faced, women have shown resourcefulness, and mental reserves we never knew we even had. We have cared for our families. We have pushed through the darkness. We have balanced and juggled. We have birthed our babes and fought for our families.
So to all the women out there. Whether you feel strong or not. You are amazing. You have accomplished so much, whether you recognise it or not.
Here’s to all the strong women out there, forged in the fires of challenge. You’ve got this.
Tagging the women you respect in the comments!
