It's a myth that aircrete is weak. Yes, it is full of air bubbles but aircrete is a very robust material. Find out more below π

The Future Homes Standard is coming, and for builders, the question isn't whether you'll comply - it's how you get there without blowing your build programme or your budget.
The answer is: fabric-first. Get the building envelope right and the rest has less heavy lifting to do. That means U-values, airtightness and thermal bridges are calculated at design stage, not as an afterthought.
Aircrete has always been well-suited to this approach. It's thermally efficient and airtight when properly detailed.
How are you preparing for the Future Homes Standard on your current projects?
We're proud of the level of support we provide our Vertical Wall Panel installers - from initial training through to design advice. But don't just take our word for it π β¬οΈ

Three things you should know before you start your self-build π
1. Thermal performance isn't something you can add on later.
By the time you're thinking about heating bills and EPC ratings, the walls are already built. The material you choose at the start determines how warm and comfortable your home will be for decades. Aircrete has excellent thermal properties making it one of the best materials for energy efficient houses. Get the materials right and you won't need to compensate elsewhere.
2. Material availability matters more than you think.
Self-build timelines are unforgiving and delays to deliveries can stall your build. Celcon Blocks are available through local builders' merchants and can be delivered to site as and when you need them, with no long lead times or bulky pre-orders taking up space on site.
3. Build speed affects your budget, not just your timeline.
Every extra week on site costs money. Aircrete is lighter and faster to lay than dense concrete block, helping reduce construction time by around 20%. For a self-builder managing every penny, that matters.

Thinking about building your own home?
Perry Champion swapped a cold, inefficient Victorian house for a modern self-build designed around comfort, performance and lower energy bills.
Using H+H aircrete, he created a home with:
β Excellent airtightness
β High thermal efficiency
β EPC A performance
If youβre planning your own project, it pays to start with the right materials.

Regulations may be changing, but the basics havenβt.
A fabric-first approach remains the most effective way to deliver energy efficiency.
Choose the right material and everything else gets easier, from complying with Part L and the Future Homes Standard to reducing operational energy over the lifetime of a home.
Aircrete combines strength and insulation in a single solution, helping to regulate internal temperatures and reduce heat loss, while building a home to last for generations.
