🚗🏆 GEORGINA PASSED — FIRST TIME! 🏆🚗

Huge congratulations to Georgina on passing her driving test today in York at the first attempt! 👏🏻

A highly intelligent History graduate, healthy-eating enthusiast, regular Parkrunner and Great North Runner… basically, we’re peas in a pod.

I mean, I can remember last week, I occasionally have salad on my kebab and I once ran for a bus — so the similarities are frankly uncanny. 🤣

Lessons with Georgie have been an absolute breeze. She was a pro from the off, meaning my role was largely reduced to crossing eyes and dotting ts. 🚗😂

She also had the immense privilege of being present for my greatest ever joke — the one about Liverpudlian vegetarians. It’s a very niche audience, so I won’t explain it here because, frankly, you wouldn’t understand it anyway. 😉🤣

And today, Georgie has officially made history by passing first time in York. In fact, I think we can safely say her provisional licence has now become an historical artefact.

I’m expecting the museum to acquire it shortly.

“Here we have a rare example of a pre-test provisional licence, believed to have been used extensively between 2024 and 2026. Scholars believe its owner was exceptionally good at driving and only required an instructor for ceremonial purposes.”

Future generations will study it. Curators will argue over its significance. Archaeologists will probably carbon-date it.

And somewhere, in a dusty university archive, a historian will eventually write:

“Georgina’s provisional licence: a brief but important period in British motoring history.” 📜😂

Seriously though, Georgie, you’ve been brilliant from day one and it’s been an absolute pleasure watching you progress.

Massive congratulations — first attempt, York, job done. 👏🏻🚗💨

Now go and enjoy your freedom…

Angel’s Sweet Success! 🥳🚗🍰🏉

Huge congratulations to Angel, who passed her driving test in Colton this morning with just 3 driving faults! 🎉👏

Angel came to me with loads of driving experience already, so there wasn’t much to do other than fine-tune a few things, build her confidence, and get her to believe in herself as much as I did.

And she certainly kept me well supplied with motivation… in the form of a sweet treat at practically every lesson! 🍰😂 Needless to say, this did absolutely nothing for my weight-loss journey. Thanks, Angel! 🤣

When she’s not driving, Angel is a keen rugby player and a talented baker — so she’s clearly someone who enjoys both getting stuck in and feeding people! 🏉🧁

But today is all about celebrating her achievement. No more relying on lifts, no more needing someone beside her to supervise — Angel is officially free to hit the road on her own! 🚗💨

Well done, Angel. You’ve worked hard, believed in yourself, and absolutely smashed it. 3 faults — what a result! 💪🎉

Now go enjoy that freedom… and maybe bring the biscuits anyway. 😉🍪
Congratulations! 🎊🚗

Amber came to me for a semi-intensive course and absolutely smashed it with a FIRST TIME PASS!

Her driving journey started with Dad, before some unscrupulous soul decided her car looked better with a dent in it. After that, she somehow ended up having to deal with me instead! I’m not here to judge which was worse but I’m sure she knows. 😉

Now, I’m still not entirely convinced she knew what she was signing up for. Week after week she’d arrive completely baffled by the weather forecast. Scorching hot sunshine? Better wear a jumper. Pouring with rain? Time to dress like she was heading for a beach day in Marbella.
Although, to be fair that sneaky holiday halfway through the course might have had something to do with it!

One thing that never changed was her attitude…. Calm, laid back and always willing to put the work in. She just got on with it, often setting the standard for others without even realising it.

The examiner summed it up perfectly
“You drive beyond what your experience level should be”

Just 2 driving faults on the day, both down to a little nervous steering. Not bad at all!
Her goal was simple- get her licence so she could get herself to work without relying on anyone else.
Well Amber… goal achieved and absolutely smashed out of the park!

Congratulations, enjoy the freedom, stay safe, keep being cool 😎 and don’t forget to wave! 👋

Mateusz managed to pass first time with 2 minors yesterday in Walton.

Having initially learned with his wife, he came to me for lessons when things didn’t quite go to plan.

Maybe the over-sized bumper cars game wasn’t the wisest choice, Mateusz. 🤣

Congratulations, drive safe.

🚗 Congratulations to Megan on passing this morning at Walton on her 1st attempt ⭐️
It’s been a journey for Megan, considering she did not want to drive 😂

Before her first lesson she told me the following ‘I would prefer to lay in the dog bed with your two dogs and let them lick my face rather than drive’ 😂 considering she is petrified of the dogs I knew we had a battle on our hands 😂😂

But fast forward 4 months and she’s a pro behind the wheel!
Megan is quietly determined and worked so hard, even when she was saying ‘I don’t like this’ 100 times a lesson she just kept going and every lesson she came away learning new skills.

You should be extremely proud of yourself Megan, just look what you can achieve when you believe in yourself 🥰

Well done. Safe driving, and I won’t lie I’m so pleased I’ve now got another taxi driver for when I need a lift home because I’m sure you’re going to be more reliable than your boyfriend 🙈

🎓 GCSE RESULTS DAY — DEEP BREATHS, PEOPLE. 🎓

To all our current and future learners getting their GCSE results today…

GOOD LUCK! 🫶🏼

And remember: whatever those results say, THEY ARE NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.

Got the grades you wanted? 🎉 AMAZING. Go and celebrate.

Didn’t get quite what you hoped for? 😬 ALSO FINE. There are always options, different routes, second chances, retakes, apprenticeships, training… basically, life is a giant sat-nav and sometimes it just says “recalculating…” 😂

Because honestly, at 16, you are NOT supposed to have your entire life figured out.

Some people know exactly what they want to do.

Some people have absolutely no idea.

And some people are still trying to remember where they put their PE kit. 😭

But if there’s ONE qualification we’d recommend getting as soon as possible…

🚗 THE DRIVING LICENCE. 🚗

Because GCSE results might get you through the door…

…but a driving licence gets you out of the house. 😂

Grades are important. Qualifications are important. But your GCSE results do not decide how successful, happy, ambitious or brilliant you’re going to be.

So whatever today brings:

Celebrate the wins. Don’t panic about the rest. And remember — there is ALWAYS another route. ❤️

Now go and get those results like the absolute legends you are.

And if all else fails…

learn to drive. 😂🚗

Next time you’re desperate to pass a learner car at any cost, maybe consider this.

Obviously you won’t because you’re risking actual death already but one can hope!

Yessss Kate. Learning to drive with your Dad is quite something, just ask my daughter!

And knowing your Dads jokes like I do, it’s no wonder you’ve got it all done and dusted in just a few weeks!

Well done, young lady. Drive safe.

Yes Kate!!

When you’re the daughter of your driving instructor there is clearly zero extra pressure to pass first time with less faults than what your older sister did 2 years ago……. Thankfully Kate only went and did it at the first try with just 2 faults, putting her firmly back in number one spot as favourite daughter 😄

Now obviously all the cool kids drive Fiesta’s which explains why Kate went to test this morning in her own car. Forgiving her for this huge error and leaving the “fezzy bomber” to have a sleep in we set off confidently to York.

Now I love test day. It’s the end of a journey and a chance to show you can be fully independent so I’m never a nervous instructor/Dad. Learners are rightly and obviously nervous as its a big day but when the Senior Driving Examiner, who tests and licences us as instructors, walks out to carry out the test (obviously Kate had no idea of this at the time) all Kate’s nerves quickly leave her and sit solely with me 🫣

Kate gave a really solid example of herself today leaving both me and her Mum, who also was part of the learning journey, so very proud. Well done Kate, we are all very happy for you. Go and enjoy it 🚙🚗

Today makes it 2/2 this week! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Taylor, who passed her driving test first time with a perfect score and a clean sheet. An incredible achievement and one she should be immensely proud of.

From day one, Taylor was determined to gain her freedom, not just for herself but for her little family too. She knew that being able to drive would open up so many opportunities, and today all that hard work paid off.

I’m not sure Fridays will ever be the same again though! What am I supposed to do without Baby along for the ride, giving me those dirty looks that clearly said, “Who’s the weirdo, Mum?” 😂

And we can’t forget Taylor delivering the best “I’ve failed” speech ever to her partner while holding it together so convincingly. Absolutely priceless and utterly incredible.

Now comes the exciting part—days out, new job prospects, family adventures, and the freedom to choose where you want to go and when you want to go there.

It’s been a pleasure to be part of your journey, Taylor. Enjoy every mile and all the opportunities that come with your new licence. You’ve worked hard for this and thoroughly deserve it.

Congratulations again, and safe driving! 🚗✨
