Our core focus in our Chill Out Chimps room this term has been learning nursery rhymes, 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star ' and 'Incy Wincy Spider.' We hung various stars around the room for the children to use their senses to explore. They loved investigating our moon and star fabrics, star finger puppets and nursery rhyme books. We also made our very own night sky to hang over our cosy den, using a black bed sheet, white paint and some star cookie cutters! The children were engrossed in our Incy Wincy Spider water play, scooping spiders using spoons and washing them down the spout! We've learned actions to the songs and also new vocabulary, "star" and "spider." We made our own spiders using play dough and pipe cleaners. Thè children used their fine motor skills to try to roll a ball shape for the spider's body, then to poke pipe cleaners legs into the dough, counting them as they did so! Following on from this, we celebrated World Book Day. We introduced various other nursery rhyme books, providing more opportunities to extend the children's language and communication. Lastly, the children have been investigating our Easter tree, hanging decorations and opening the eggs to find objects inside. They also used their fine manipulative skills and hand eye coordination, to post the eggs down tubes and balance them on top too!
Happy Easter everyone!
