🐝 The wasps have buzzed off! 🐝

After a little unexpected encounter with some very unwelcome visitors, our Key Stage 2 classrooms have been temporarily closed while the wasp nest was dealt with.

We’re delighted to say that Key Stage 2 is now OPEN and wasp-free! 🎉🙌

Normal school service has officially resumed… minus the buzzing! 😂🐝

Year 2 were lucky enough to meet a real life author today! Julie Sykes visited Sandy Hill this afternoon to share what it’s like to be an author, give some top tips for writing and read from her new book ‘Luna Grace Girl From Outer Space-Monster Mix Up.’ 🎃🦇
This opportunity has inspired our Year 2 children to read more stories and even have a go at writing their own stories. 🤩📚📝

Is your little one starting Reception in September 2027? We would love to welcome you and your child to our Reception classroom for a special Stay and Play morning.

Come along, explore our classroom, discover some of the exciting things we get up to and enjoy some time playing together. It’s a lovely opportunity for your child to become familiar with their new surroundings, meet our friendly and dedicated Early Years team and start to feel at home at Sandy Hill.

National Stoma Awareness Day takes place across the UK on 3rd October 2026.

To mark the occasion, we will be holding our awareness day on Friday 2nd October. We are inviting anyone who would like to show their support to wear purple, as this is the colour associated with the National Stoma Awareness campaign. 💜

We are not asking for donations. However, there is a QR code on the awareness poster for anyone who would like to make a voluntary contribution to the organisation.

Our Reception children have been starting each morning with a range of 'Funky Fingers' activities designed to develop their fine motor skills and strengthen the muscles needed for writing.
