Healing my inner child and the parent wound gave me the freedom and capability to raise my children in a way that I used to wish for!

I’m patient, calm and understanding when they push boundaries.

I’m loyal, considered and supportive when they have tough days at school or with friends.

I’m loving, safe and consistent when they are angry or feel let down.

I was set up to repeat everything I had experienced

But instead

I broke generational cycles of reactivity and emotional immaturity

By setting the intention and putting in the effort. EVERY single day.

This is me 80% of the time EVEN while I’m in the thick of Perimenopause.

There’s still so much to work on to become more expansive. I look forward to being the future me. I have big plans for her!

Here’s what I’ve come to know. Through loving my children with such a generous heart, I’ve healed my own Inner Child.

Masking and hiding parts of yourself is unbelievably exhausting

But it evolved from a part that is deeply invested in your protection

Times in the past when it wasn’t safe to be the real you

So you learned to hide and mask yourself to be accepted, to be loved or to fit in.

You’re NOT too much.

You’re actually the exact amount of everything for so many people in this world.

I wonder, if you’re ready to create the environment and conditions to feel comfortable and safe to be you at all times.

Being authentically you, not half or three quarters, exactly you in full technicolour is what the world needs right now. Your kindness, your quirk’s and your perspective is needed.

Your authenticity is the glue that binds you to your tribe, your friends and your people. When people know who you really are, you become attractive and magnetic!

The parent wound… it lingers…

I was the person who used to dread and avoid a parent because I just couldn’t handle them and the way they made me feel

Until the day came that my parents needed me more, they were aging, pretty vulnerably…

I felt a duty and obligation to support them but my heart was hurting… for me

The past was something I had to face in order to redefine the relationship I wanted to have with them.

I had to upskill my communication style. I had to rewire myself & build hard core inner safety. I had to detach and reattach in a healthy way. An identity shift that redefined me and my relationship. In fact all my relationships up-levelled.

All this healing took place whilst I was parenting and running my business.

The positive impact of my growth and healing has filtered into every area of my life.

More confident, self belief, inner safety, sense of belonging, owning the room, operating from the feminine, proud, loud and elevated! Not afraid of anyone EVER!

It’s like avoiding that room in your house that needs a proper sort… you tell yourself you’ll get around to it one day.

The problem is you keep throwing in those things that don’t have anywhere else to go. The piles are getting bigger and merging into one another. Tackling this is overwhelming and a two person job.

So, I totally get the draw of escapism… watching, scrolling, listening to stimulating music or conversations that are soothing BUT notice how it’s fleeting.

For you, it might be physical or practical activities disguised as well-being that aid the escape; marathon training, body building competitions, shopping, drinking, busy social life, holidays, retreats etc

Reality is, when you close the app or close your front door, you have to come home to you, your inner world.

What are you returning to? Do you look forward to being alone with yourself? Do you ache from the void seek a dopamine hit?

Only you know the raw reality of those moments… and how disconnected you become from the present moment.

If you don’t invest time and energy into making that inner world feel calm, neutral and caring then of course, you’re not going to want to return to it. Escapism will allure you.

You’re not scared of healing or working through wounds.

You CAN absolutely create calmness and serenity even when your hormones are all over the place!

Hormones + Mindset influence the severity of Perimenopause symptoms.

Saying that, there’s a lot we can control. For one, emotional regulation falls under mindset. Everything is better when anxiety, overwhelm and stress are dialled down. There are real tangible ways I can teach you to turn your own dial down.

The Women who seem to sail through most likely have optimal practices that serve them well during this phase.

There are a lot of variables at play, your hormones, your mindset, physical health, diet, the quality of your relationships, workload, your obligations and responsibilities.

It’s too big to unpack on your own especially if you’re in the midst of symptoms.

Maintaining all that you value (relationships, career, health & finances) becomes a huge effort during the perimenopause. IYKYK!

If you didn’t take the time to heal, develop your emotional capacity and learn how to regulate your emotions before now, you’re sure going to have to do so when you reach perimenopause.

The risk - the overwhelm can lead to burn out. If you’ve experienced overwhelm more than 3 times in the last 2 weeks then it’s likely you need to take action fast.

It won’t get better on its own.

You don’t have to shrink yourself in order to manage.

Everyday, I work with Women grappling with their hormones & mindset to help them step into calm and reclaim peace. This has a huge positive impact on their relationships, career and health.

That’s right, when your words or thoughts match your behaviours you set off a beautiful chain reaction.

You become the person who keeps her promises to herself.

You build a strong grounding and a deep sense of reliability.

Then, without trying, you start to emit this energy and frequency to everyone around you.

People become attracted to you. They want your brains on a project. They want to shoot the breeze with you. They want to be enveloped with you and they most definitely want to be in your orbit.

Every area of your life becomes elevated and people start to notice you SO much more.

As a mum, this is super important to me. I want to be the biggest influencer on my children and when my energy draws them in organically, then, I’ve won half the battle.

As a wife, it means we are intimately, deeply, spiritually connected in all the ways that sustain an enduring marriage.

As a business owner, it means I repel prospects who want to half ass things but I attract people who match me or go higher! I live for this exchange of energy!

Three little words with ENORMOUS power to shape your lived experience

The goal isn’t to never lose your sh*t again… you’re only human after all!

It’s to change the set point of your emotional window of tolerance.

So, rather than your default being a 7 out of 10 and the “thing” that goes wrong ruins your whole day it’s to change the set point to 2 or 3 so your never surpass the 7, come what may.

Under a 7, you can operate from your higher self. You can stay in your right mind to handle anything that needs handling. You’re less sensitive. You have a higher perspective. You don’t get caught up in other peoples commotion. You can recover faster and return to your set point without entering a state of suffering no matter what happens.

Activating a calm and relaxed set point comes with intention. It’s a decision, a real fork in the road moment, do I want to carry on as I am or am I ready to do what’s necessary to shape my lived experience…

HYPNOTHERAPY

It’s one of my favourite modalities because it’s effective. Simple.

It bypasses the conscious mind and works with the all powerful subconscious mind. You don’t need will power or motivation. Just intention and commitment.

It’s also a deeply relaxing hour or so despite the work that goes on whilst you’re hypnotised.

Hypnotherapy provides a solution for everyone. Even those that think they can’t be hypnotised or aren’t visual people.

Some of my go-to’s are…

Classic Hypnotherapy where you reprogrammed the subconscious mind to move away from an existing unhelpful pattern and give suggestions to move towards the desired patterns.

Parts Therapy where you engage with to the (all knowing) Self, the protective Parts, to the managers and fire fighters. It’s very similar to Internal Family Systems approach. This is awesome if you’ve been experiencing polarity, for example you know what you need to do but you just can’t make yourself do it.

Regression or Root cause Hypnotherapy where you go back to the time the imprint was made of the issue you are struggling with today. This involves gestalt therapy.

There are hundreds of variations and there is always a way to find a solution for your unique situation.

Have you ever been told that you’re touchy, sensitive or defensive?

… you become sensitive around certain people or situations…?

There’s a high chance you already know that you are sensitive and you wish you could find the internal control button.

Perhaps you can’t remember a time when you weren’t this way so you believe you’re stuck this way…

Here’s what you may be doing…

You’re a master at reading the room and between the lines, at noticing tone, gestures and through this you assess how safe it is to be you, the real you

You’re really tuned into people and how their actions or inactions affect you and others

It’s super easy for you to put yourself in other peoples shoes and you often feel their pain or suffering when hard times fall on them

The PROBLEM is…

This is exhausting and causes you to overthink and over analyse instead of being present

There is no OFF button so you find you need to retreat or hide

What you NEED…

Is to reset your nervous system AND give your subconscious mind the precise programming to know when to be ON alert and when to be Calm & Relaxed

There is no amount of will power or motivation that can change this part of your mind

You already have GOOD insight into this characteristic. You know when it shows up. You know how long you stay on high alert. You know what and who to avoid but have you noticed…?

Insight, knowledge and awareness doesn’t change the needle

HOWEVER…

Healing the protective parts and embodying the practices that reinforce your safety is the deep work that’s awaiting you

A GIFT and a CURSE…

Your sensitivity is precisely why you notice people who need help and when you can, you help them

It makes your KIND, THOUGHTFUL, CONSIDERATE and this is what makes you so rare…you’re a gem!

There are numerous times in a week when I enter overwhelm

I know you do too

It’s a perfectly normal reaction to become overwhelmed. Also this means you’ve crept outside of your emotional window of tolerance

Think of emotional window of tolerance as a scale

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

You’ll be tootling along nicely if you can stay under a 5, you are tolerating your emotions very well

6-7 means you need to pay attention to your feelings, thoughts, sensation and behaviours

Are things beginning to stack up on you?

This is the time for preventing overwhelm by selecting an intervention…

My go to are:

Breath-work, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), Meditation, movement, fresh air, connection with loved one or close friend.

So many options, sometimes I just need one other times I need 3 or more. All effectively return me to a calm 5 or below

Now, if you are beyond a 7, it’s likely you are in survival mode. You are reacting rather than responding. Your emotions are highly charged. Breathing is shallow. Overthinking or frozen. Fast heartbeat.

If you can, use an intervention now

If you can’t then once the overwhelm passes… which it will in good time then…managing your RECOVERY is essential

You can choose from:

Breath-work, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), Meditation, movement, fresh air, connection with loved one or close friend.

Yes, these interventions prevent and cure getting you back to your emotional window of tolerance
