Online Safety Series - here are some tips about what safe and healthy habits should look like online.

This evening, our Year 5/6 Netball team went to a High-Five, Bee Netball tournament with Mrs Howard and Miss Sivieri. The tournament was held at The Hart School in Rugeley with three other schools involved. They showed amazing sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience. We couldn’t be more proud of them and we are excited to compete in more netball opportunities in the future.

On Friday 12th June, Year 1 visited Tamworth Castle. They had a wonderful time learning about The Great Fire of London and the staff at the castle were impressed with their wonderful manners, behaviour and knowledge. They worked as a team to re-enact fighting the fire with leather buckets of water. They selected what they would take with them if they were escaping and met the lady of the castle and her maid, dressing up in clothes from the 1600’s.

On Friday 12th June, Year 5 spent the morning at Rugeley Fire Station taking part in the Safe and Sound workshops.
They took part in workshops about car safety, rail safety with Network Rail, fire safety with Staffordshire Fire Service and water safety with the RNLI. They also worked with two PCSO's from Staffordshire to 'design' a model citizen.
The children were excellent Hayes Meadow representatives. Ask them what they learnt today!

On Thursday 11th June, Year 5 and 6 had a wonderful afternoon at The Big Bang Fair at the NEC. They participated in a range of engaging activities, including flying drones, conducting experiments, watching an explosive demonstration, and considering their future aspirations.

Online Safety series - online slang

Today is AI Awareness Day. This is a new initiative that aims to develop AI literacy in UK schools. Students and teachers are encouraged to explore, debate and develop critical thinking around AI, learning how AI technologies work, the potential societal implications, and the foundations for ethical and safe use.
Classes took part in activities and discussions around AI, looked at the positives and negatives of AI and looked at how to use it safe and responsibly.

Year 2 and Year 6 have had a great day in their Drama workshops. 🎭
Year 2 had a Victorians workshop where they performed through drama various different aspects of Victorian life.
Year 6 had a workshop all about Our Earth where they used drama to execute the effects of climate change, recycling and deforestation.
