Rugby Free Secondary School is yet again proudly celebrating the history-making achievements of its Year 11 students, following the publication of this year’s GCSE results.
Following last week’s superb A Level results, this year’s GCSE outcomes provide further evidence of the academic strength of Rugby Free Secondary School, with students achieving the highest level of overall attainment in the school’s history.
The results represent a significant milestone for the school and are a testament to the hard work, determination and ambition demonstrated by Year 11 students, alongside the commitment and expertise of the staff who have supported them throughout their secondary education.
This year’s headline attainment figure reflects the collective efforts of the entire Rugby Free community, with students once again demonstrating that they can achieve exceptional academic outcomes when high expectations, excellent teaching and a relentless commitment to improvement come together.
Year 11 students performed particularly strongly across a wide range of subjects, with Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Health and Social Care, Art and Design Technology, PE and Sport, Music, Spanish, Sociology and Creative iMedia all producing excellent outcomes.
These results highlight the breadth of academic success across the school, demonstrating that Rugby Free students are capable of achieving highly across both traditional academic subjects and a diverse range of creative, technical and vocational disciplines.
Following the publication of results, there were multiple individual success stories across Year 11, with students achieving an impressive range of outstanding grades. Among the highlights were:

These individual achievements represent just some of the many success stories from this year’s Year 11 cohort.
Headteacher Iain Green congratulated Year 11 students on their achievements and reflected on the collective effort behind this year’s results: “A huge congratulations to every student receiving their GCSE results today. This is a year group that has had to navigate significant challenges throughout their education, and the resilience, determination and maturity they have shown is something of which they should be incredibly proud. These results are a reflection not only of their academic ability, but of the character they have developed along the way.”
“To achieve such strong A Level and GCSE results in consecutive weeks is a fantastic achievement for Rugby Free and is testament to the hard work of our students and staff. We are a school that is committed to developing the academic and personal potential of every young person, and it is incredibly rewarding to see that commitment reflected in these outcomes. “I am exceptionally proud of this group of students and would also like to place on record my thanks to our staff, who have worked tirelessly and gone above and beyond to support our young people. We wish every member of Year 11 the very best as they move on to Sixth Form, College, apprenticeships or their next educational journey. They leave us as fantastic ambassadors for Rugby Free, and I hope they recognise just how much they have achieved.”
Deputy Headteacher John Harris also praised the achievements of the Year 11 cohort and the staff who supported them:
“We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and of every member of staff who has played a part in supporting them. One of the great strengths of Rugby Free is the sense of community we have created, and these results are a powerful example of what can be achieved when students and staff work together towards a shared goal.”

However, we know that the education they have received at Rugby Free goes far beyond the grades on their results sheets. They leave us with experiences, friendships, confidence and the personal qualities that will support them throughout the next chapter of their lives.”
