Year 1 had a fantastic first day yesterday! 🌟
The children settled into their new routines brilliantly and showed such enthusiasm and confidence throughout the day. It was wonderful to see them exploring their new classroom, getting to know us as their new teachers and friends, and enjoying the wide range of activities available through our continuous provision.
There was lots of busy learning, creativity, curiosity and, most importantly, plenty of smiles! 😊 We are so proud of how well everyone has settled in and are really looking forward to all the exciting learning and adventures that Year 1 will bring.
What a wonderful start to the new school year!

Dear Children, Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a new school year! There is something very special about the start of September. It is a chance to begin again, to set ourselves new goals, to learn new things, to make new friendships and to think about the kind of people we want to be. At the heart of our school is our motto:

Be Kind, Work Hard.

These are simple words, but they mean so much to me. I want them to be more than words β€” I want them to be something that every child and every adult lives every day.

Be Kind.
Be kind in the way you speak to others. Be kind when someone is finding something difficult. Be kind to someone who is different from you. Be kind when nobody is watching. Most importantly, remember that every person you meet is carrying their own story, and a small act of kindness can make a very big difference.

Work Hard.
This does not mean that everything has to be perfect. It means trying. It means challenging yourself, persevering when something is difficult and being proud of the effort you put in. I want every child to believe that they can improve and that they should always strive to be the very best version of themselves.

And there will, of course, be times when we get things wrong.

Children will make mistakes. Staff will make mistakes. Sometimes we will say the wrong thing, make the wrong decision or simply have a difficult day. We are all human. What matters is how we respond, how we learn, how we put things right and how we treat one another along the way.

This year, one of my key priorities will be strengthening the partnership between school and home. I want our parents and carers to feel genuinely welcomed into school and to have a clear understanding of what is happening in their child's education. You will have more opportunities this year to come into school and experience what I see every single day.

I also want our children to know that we believe in them. We will encourage them, challenge them, support them and celebrate their successes. We will help them when things are difficult and remind them that making mistakes is part of learning.

My hope for this year is simple: that our school is a place where kindness is noticed, effort is celebrated, mistakes are understood and everyone feels that they belong.

If we work together, I believe we can make this a truly wonderful year for every child. Welcome back. I am incredibly excited about the year ahead and everything we will achieve together.

With very best wishes,

Mr Johnston

Our Nursery Graduation was a heart warming occasion. It has been a pleasure to watch our Nursery children flourish and we know that they will continue to impress us as they continue their journey into Reception. A huge thank you to Mrs Abbott, Miss Urszula and Miss Goldsack for all of the hard work and preperations that went into making this occasion a success - there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Wow!

Our PTA Summer Fayre was a great success yesterday. Thank you all for your support and a huge thank you to the PTA and staff who made it happen. A lot of hard work and effort goes into these events and it doesn't go unnoticed. It was lovely to see so many happy, smiling children and we heard lots of goodies were won, especially on the Bottle Hoopla! πŸ˜‰

Have a fantastic Summer everybody.

After an excellent tournament we finally have our St Marie's TT Rockstar World Cup Champions. Congratulations to 6GC, they will not have long to enjoy their victory as they are off to year 7 after today but they can be proud of the hard work and times tables knowledge they put into an exciting cup run. A huge amount of praise to 3SM, beating older year groups to reach the final was an incredible achievement in itself. Well done to all pupils in all classes that took part, there will be more tournaments on offer next year and plenty of opportunities for pupils and classes to compete.
