Calling Year 11 students - MATHS EXAM PAPER BOOT CAMPS!!

It is now LESS THAN 4 months until the first GCSE Maths Exam Paper...

Are your mock grades lower than expected? Do you need a higher grade to access your plans for Y12 and beyond?
Do you feel that you are still not showing your best work in an exam setting? Would you appreciate some targeted guidance and advice from experienced Maths teachers? If so, we can help..

BUZZ TUTORING will be running 'Exam Paper Boot Camps' for Y11 students on selected dates (TBC) between now and May 26:

The sessions will involve a solid hour of working through past exam papers with direct access to experienced maths teachers who can explain, encourage and guide you towards successfully answering Maths GCSE exam questions. There will be lots of opportunity to ask questions & gain individual feedback. This could relate to a particular topic that you are struggling with, or more generally about how best to revise for Maths.

- Places will be strictly limited to 20 students per 1 hour session
- Offered on a first come, first served basis
- Held at convenient times during weekends / school holidays
- Local secondary school venue
- Staffed by experienced Maths teachers
- Printed exam paper materials will be provided on the day
- Separate sessions for Foundation and Higher students
- Relevant to all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, IGCSE)

Cost will be £20 per student per session

We are currently finalising details, but will shortly be in a position to announce specific dates & times via this page. Please share with anyone you feel might benefit from these sessions.

Tutoring Places Available!

Now that the 2025 exam season is done, I have a small number of slots available for new tutees. These are all early slots at 3.45-4.45pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

These slots have proved popular in the past, as students can come directly from school to my tutoring location in Bilton (CV227RA), and still be home before 5.00! Sessions are charged at £37.50 for the hour.

For students with slightly later school finishing times (RHS, Sheriff), I am happy to offer 45 minute slots from 4.00-4.45 at a reduced cost of £30.

Back to school (and tutoring!).

So, in a flash, Christmas and New year are a distant memory! I hope you have all managed to get some rest and enjoy the break from normality.

I just wanted to confirm that lessons are now resumed as normal. For my fortnightly students, if your last lesson was w/c 9th December then your next lesson is this week!

Back to School!

As we now settle in to the new school year I wanted to welcome all the new tutees who have joined me recently, and to thank those who have stayed with me since last year. Your support is much appreciated!

Many of last years cohort of students did fantastically well in their exams and have now gone on to sixth form, college, apprenticeships or university. Its always great to see my students get the results they need for the next steps in their lives.

Demand for maths tuition is still very high and as a result I am currently fully booked. I am not, therefore, able to take on any new tutees at the moment. If you would like to go on my waiting list in case a slot becomes free for any reason, then please drop me a WhatsApp message on 07931 823345 and I will add you to the list.

If there were more hours in the day, I would love to see more students, but the life of a tutor is time limited by the school week, so places are always at a premium.

Well....not sure how that happened, but Christmas and New Year are already a distant memory! I hope yours was as restful and enjoyable as mine (despite the terrible weather).

I certainly feel like a line has been drawn under my 'old life' as a full time teacher, and I am really excited to be starting a new career as an academic tutor.

I am particularly looking forward to getting to know my 2024 tutees - some of whom I began tutoring last year; some of whom I have taught over the years at Ashlawn; and some of whom I will be meeting for the very first time this year!

Thank you to all parents who have already replied to my email last week. This contained my terms and conditions of business, and requested confirmation of the desired date of your first session of the year - I am back in action tomorrow so am happy to start asap! If you haven't yet responded I would be grateful if you could do so at some point before the day of your slot.

Just an update on my January 2024 availability - I'm now fully booked from 4pm till 9pm every weekday evening! The response to my initial ad on Facebook has been unbelievable, and unfortunately I am not able to offer any further slots at this stage.

For those who have reserved a spot for January - I will be in touch over Christmas with final details. Thank you all for your support.

If you are still interested in signing up with me - PLEASE FOLLOW THIS PAGE!! If I do get any cancellations I will post my availability on here. I know that life is busy, and people's circumstances & priorities change all the time, so some re-jigging of slots will inevitably happen.

ALSO - I am planning to offer some group GCSE Maths revision sessions in the run up to the June 24 exam season. These will be face-to-face, at a local venue (TBC). Again, I will post details on this page as soon as I have them.
