Alex showed me an interesting bit of information earlier and it makes a lot of sense so I thought I would write it up into a post.

Alex has a particular love for Shotguns and it seems her particular area of interest and specialization is going to be fi****ms. There is something she seems to find quite amusing about being a 5ft 4" woman specializing in fi****ms but that's just what happens training with Tenchu Combat Concepts. Inevitably you end up finding something that you really like training with and run with it.

Now I have trained her in the use of a wide variety of sidearms such as the Sig P228, Beretta, G***k, C**t 1911, C**t SAA and a .357 Snub but she loves the Shotgun and keeps saying she wants one.

So practically why would that make sense over sidearms?

Well for one a Shotgun with 1 trigger pull fires 8-15 pellets the equivalent size to a 9mm round depending on ammo.

That decision to pull the trigger once on a Shotgun from a law enforcement perspective is far easier to explain legally than pulling the trigger 8-15 times on a handgun, and generally a 9mm is going to have to be shot 5 times to stop an attacker.

With a Shotgun its one and done, with the rounds and the wad hitting in one go IT WILL stop an attacker. It's also far easier to explain a Shotgun rather than a handgun or carbine rifle.

They are also brilliant for CQC and home defence if you live somewhere like the USA. Any hallway instantly becomes a kill zone in a home invasion scenario.

Has a wide variety of rounds with birdshot, slugs, dragons breath rounds, Nickel rounds, grenage rounds (AA12), etc

Its also a master key when needed.

Overall I think she convinced me! We might need to get her a Shotgun to train with 🤣🤣

With the relaunch of the kids classes coming too in September we are restructuring how we do them for 2026.

Something that always bothered me was the gaps in some of the students ages before with some of the transitions, so 5 year old children could be training with a 9 year old waiting to move up a group at 10 and then the teenagers trained with the adults from 13+ which was a vast shift in complexity from the kids curriculum to adult syllabus.

Now we will offer more classes for more refined age groups as listed below:

🐣 Tiny Tengu - 4 to 7 years old focused on:
Fun, coordination, confidence, discipline, basic martial arts

🥷 Tenchu Tengu - 8 to 11 years old focused on:
Junior martial arts, technique, games, controlled sparring, progression

⚡ Tenchu Tengu Elite - 12 to 15 years old focused on:
Teen focused training, harder technical work, self defence, fitness, controlled grappling and MMA.

🐉 Tenchu Combat Concepts - 16+ years old focused on scenario training, reality based self defence (RBSD), Kali and Combatives application of all 3 arts respectively as one.

These changes will significantly change our approach but as with everything you learn from mistakes and evolve, so we will have 4 age ranges to teach instead of 3 now giving the older students more opportunity to focus on more realistic training as they become more responsible with age.

Don't be an NPC! Make the decision to take control of your own life and start training with us at a discounted rate of just £59.99 (Normally £80) for UNLIMITED monthly lessons for the duration of your time training with us, hopefully until you obtain your black belt but not everyone is cut out for that.

Aside from just teaching unarmed combat and a vast array of traditional weapons systems, we also do a lot of work on philosophy and mindset with our students to bring out the best version of them as they move forwards in life.

It's too common these days for students to get stuck in a rut, being given advice that turns them into little more than lemmings. I have personally seen this recently from a company called AKG in Rugby who honestly couldn't care less about the students potential as long as they work in Sketchers or Greggs, regardless of the fact they are starting a tattoo business with support from another business start up company much like the Kings Trust.

Bare in mind the confusing nature of this for the student as they are making moves to better themselves but getting held back by a job agency that just has to fulfill a quota and doesn't care about whats best for the individual but just getting paid.

In conclusion don't let a company like AKG turn you into an NPC! Do whats best for you! Make moves, progress, get qualified but for the love of god don't work in McDonalds for the rest of your life 🤣

One week until we reopen for September! 🫡

For the first month we will be working on getting the students back up to speed after the summer holidays so lots of basics but to be fair I know everyone wants a recap anyway.

I personally can't wait to get back to teaching as I have had quite a personal journey the past few months that ended up with myself and Alexandra walking 200 miles around Europe.

While quite the journey, I also appreciate being home again and having stability and whatever anyone may say locally, my students have stood by me and we have loads of new enquiries because they know what Tenchu stands for and that we will walk through hell if necessary for the right reasons. If you know you know 😅

As we return remember Takamatsu Sensei's essence of happiness in the syllabus, You have to take the negative to appreciate the positive and that's where we are right now. 🥷😅
