I was prompted one Tuesday afternoon to visit a friend of mine but instead, joined a ‘special’ meditation session at a Nature Sanctuary which is near to where my friend lives. Called the Nature Sanctuary because it’s situated in a quiet wooded area and is used solely as a place to meditate, pray and to sing sacred songs. I would have missed the session but for one of those synchronicities Findhorn is famous for as I literally crossed paths with Joy Drake who was leading the meditation and invited me to join them. I initially hesitated and explained I was on the way to see a friend, but became convinced that a detour to the meditation was ‘meant to be’ when she said he had been confined at home due to illness!
The Nature Sanctuary experience became the highlight of the week, with an answer given to a question I’d held in mind since witnessing the birth of an Angel at the New Sanctuary Blessing Ceremony during the 60th Birthday Celebrations – ‘Why had a new Angel been born, what was its purpose?’ - Here’s the link to the full story back then: https://celebratingoneincrediblefamily.org/the-interdimensional-blessing-the-new-sanctuary-site
There were six of us taking part in the meditation and as soon as we had settled into the silence, the gentle words of our guide soon opened the portals to the inner realms to reveal to my awareness, a beautiful face I knew instantly to be the New Sanctuary Angel, who relayed the following message:
‘’I am born of the love and compassion directed to the nature kingdom, and in this way, follow in the footsteps of who you call the Angel of Findhorn who came to form a bridge between our two worlds and has now spread its wings to include the whole of humanity. My role is to overlight the New Sanctuary, to bless all who enter its sacred space, and to quicken the day when ‘heaven is precipitated upon earth’’.
Left within a cloud of love as I always am after such an encounter, all too soon, we were guided gently back into the present where we shared our stories of delight.

What is so beautiful about this particular group is its resolve to meditate in the Nature Sanctuary every Tuesday and in so doing, help keep alive the Spirit that is the Findhorn Findhorn with all its regular members promising to keep to the Findhorn Covenant – see below.

The Birth of an Angel

The rain had stopped by the time I’d finished painting two large flat pebbles ready to take to the sanctuary site later that morning – something I hadn’t intended to do, but when walking past the CC marquee on the way to the sanctuary blessing and hearing everyone joyfully singing, I just couldn’t resist joining in, painting a heart symbol on one pebble and the yin & yang symbol on another.
It was Thursday the 17th November 2022 - the day we were to bless the site of Findhorn Foundations new sanctuary - a replacement for the one destroyed by fire the year before. The site was cleared a few weeks after the fire and has since been used as an open-air sanctuary with individuals and groups taking time out to imbue the area with love as often as they could and I’d walked up from the marquee with many others to do the same. I placed the two decorated pebbles I’d carried there between the many others that had been lovingly painted, and all arranged around a central display in readiness for the Blessing Ceremony,

Walking around those who had gathered for the ceremony I found a vantage point from where I could see and listen to the proceedings about halfway between the wild garden and the sanctuary site itself and had only a few minutes to wait before our Focaliser for the event, began the Blessing Ceremony - taking advantage of those few minutes to attune to and enter into the silence, and to feel and add to the joy that is always present when so many kindred souls are gathered.

The Focaliser began the Blessing Ceremony by asking us to close our eyes and become still, though by then my own senses had already made a deep connection and in that same moment the whole area of the sanctuary area began to rise up into a grass covered mound and continued to grow until quite large!

In the next moment I suddenly became aware that we’d become ‘hemmed in' by nature – the pine trees in particular had tripled in number and were ‘standing’ close together right behind the outer circle of the congregation, with joyful nature beings of every description swirling and dancing around and between them.

Then another smaller mound began to form on top of the first, pushing up and causing the grass to part. Initially it looked as though a large round stone was trying to push through but as it rose up further, revealed a large bald head that had a contorted face!

Its head and face were greyish in colour, and looked like an Orc but with a gentle expression with bumps and perturbances, reminiscent of a those I’ve seen in movies. Initially, this powerful earth spirit seemed to be struggling to change its appearance until succeeding to display a face that prompted a sigh of recognition from the onlookers even though everyone’s eyes were closed!
I could feel a definite interplay between this being and all those present, and of course the face that drew such a reaction from the crowd was that of our dear Eileen.
Other familiar faces followed in quick succession, all of whom must have been associated with the sanctuary for many years and have added their loving energy since the first sanctuary was constructed on that site and able to be sensed by this Earth Being.
I remained as an observer throughout the experience, my thoughts totally occupied in recording the unfolding events.
In perfect timing, and perhaps only a few minutes after closing our eyes, we were asked that we attune to the source of light deep within our beings and radiate it into the new sanctuary site. I’m not sure of the exact words spoke but in an instant, everyone in the congregation became a living beacon, channelling their light in unison into the earth beneath our feet which I can only assume interacted with the Earth Being or Deva - Gaia’s ambassador for all the love that had been imbued into the Earth over the previous months, as in the next moment there was an explosion of light, so bright, so extensive - the like I’ve never seen on either the outer nor inner levels of being!

Out of this breath-taking display, rays of sparkling light began to arise and stream out in all directions followed soon after by the wings and then the form of a beautiful angel as it rose high above us, gently opening its wings to form a sparkling canopy of colour and light overlighting everyone. The air became charged with love as the angel’s beautiful face, overflowing with compassion, turned to look down upon us.

The next words I heard were those of our Focaliser bringing us back into the present and asking us to affirm God within ourselves, within each other, and within everyone.

🙏 💞

I realised later, having had similar experiences over the years, that I’d slipped into non-duality, that in the few minutes of waiting for the ceremony to begin, I must have been ‘tuning into’ the finer vibrations of the sanctuary site and the moment I closed my eyes, switched from participant to being an observer overlooking the whole scene, and blessed to ‘see’ what was taking place behind the scenes – within the subtle realms.

I was observing the manifestation of all the energy that had been lovingly imbued into the earth and stored somehow within and around the area where we were stood just waiting for this moment. That the energy must have been building for many months to have reached a level where it could bring about what I was a witness to!

It was fascinating to feel and see, the interplay between this emerging Deva and the onlookers, physically and emotionally - given that no one else was consciously party to the unfolding scene, I felt truly blessed and uplifted at being a witness to this glorious event.

Afterwards, it was realised that we had exercised our God like ability to give birth to an Angel – one that has the quality representing the thoughts of all those who contributed to its creation, thoughts of love, peace, reconciliation?

The whole experience left me with the insight that an angel with a specific quality had been brought into life, and though it faded back into its own dimension when the blessing came to an end, it would continue the purpose its human creators had collectively imbued into the sanctuaries sacred space for as long as needed!

Was that Pan in my garden? 2020
I was awe struck when reading the messages from the intelligences of nature in Dorothy Maclean’s books, a wonderment which became the motivation to follow the advice of the subtle beings and began to express love towards all aspects of nature - an intention that eventually bore fruit as I moved away from trying to make things happen to just being ‘present’, with many subtle being encounters in the forty years since which have ranged from the sound of a Deva’s heavy footsteps approaching when sat alone in the depths of a highland forest, to the sparkling rainbow-coloured displays of Nature Spirits and Angels who have always brought about overwhelming feelings of joy.
The undergrowth of an ancient woodland close to home was my playground as a child where many hours were spent building dens, playing hide and seek and climbing trees with friends, and perhaps why I accepted as my own, the messages given to Dorothy so readily, and why I’ve always felt uneasy when pruning shrubs and trees in our garden - a concern that changed instantly after a visit from Pan, the God of Nature, in the late spring of 2020.
This uneasiness about pruning had taken its toll on our garden, the shrubs and trees had become oversized for the space available and needed to be heavily pruned but felt it was definitely not the way to express love towards nature, but did need to resolve the issue, and returned again and again to the same group of shrubs which were at the centre of this conflict but could still only trim them lightly. They’d formed an enclosed space around a water feature which my wife and I regarded as our nature sanctuary.
After trimming one of these ’sanctuary bushes’, a Forsythia, which had not long completed a glorious display of yellow flowers I moved onto the next - a Dogwood, that should have had bright red branches to give the best show every winter. This particular shrub needed to be pruned down to the ground to stimulate loads of new branches over the summer but because of light pruning in previous years, had become a tangle of intertwining branches that had no chance to display its true beauty, and whilst in deep thought tussling with what to do, the atmosphere began to change, it became surreal and a sense of joy welled up from within. At that very moment the smiling figure of Pan appeared as he pushed his way between the Forsythia and an adjacent Camelia shrub to become a towering father figure at my side!
Yes, it was the same dear Pan I’d first seen in Cluny Garden several years before and this time had come to give reassurance and needn’t be concerned, that the love I was pouring into the garden was filling the nature spirits with glee and, as if to affirm what he was saying, the Dogwood I was reluctant to prune, suddenly transformed into the most beautiful nature being I’ve ever seen…..it had become superimposed with the figure of a giggling young woman, her dress, a breath-taking myriad of sparkling multi-coloured rays flowing within the shrubs outline.
Seconds later and the garden had returned to ‘normal’ but was left with the insight that I could prune as needed, that one of the most important attributes the nature kingdom yearned for from humanity was love, as its their life blood.

Angel of the Mineral Kingdom?
A keen interest in collecting crystals and fossils began when attending a geology course at college and continues today, particularly when walking the Yorkshire coastline, so it was with delight that I accepted an invitation to a meditation session which intended to use rock crystals as a source of attunement several years later.
We were all friends joining in what was to be an experimental session held at an alternative health centre – one of our friends, a natural health practitioner and the focaliser for the session, had used rock crystals in her natural healing work for many years and wanted us to experience what it was like when attuning to them as a group and provide feedback.
After we sat down, our focaliser friend let us look at and then arrayed the assortment of crystals she had on the floor in a large circle around where we were seated, and explained when joining us, to be mindful of them after she had guided us into a silent meditation. Personally, I was intrigued by the idea of using crystals in this way - I’d been practicing meditation for nearly ten years at the time and had never used ‘props’ of any kind before.
Soon after sitting down I began to feel a very powerful presence, and when released into the silence my whole being was instantly ‘taken in hand’ by what I knew to be an Angel - I’d recently met with my very first angel who had, in the twinkling of an eye, ‘lifted’ a dreadful feeling of heartache when embraced by its all-encompassing love as I reluctantly returned to work, and here again was the same sweeping feeling but this time, it wasn’t love that enfolded me but an incredible power.
The feeling of empowerment was intense as the Angel overlighted my consciousness and blanketed my mind with a wealth of knowledge that provided insight into any crystal I brought to mind as to what part of the human body it related to. It was as though I’d become part of the Angel’s consciousness with the only limitation being my mind’s ability to expand into what seemed to be unlimited proportions to capture all that this majestic being had the potential to give - I’d attained a certain level of detached awareness at the time, but it fell far short of being the ‘non-duality’ needed, though I guess, these angelic encounters had since given me a push in that direction.
The meditation unfolded a magical journey that not only revealed a crystal’s association with the human body but how its vibration acted in unison with all the other crystals to create and maintain life – a clarity of knowing that faded soon after the session ended though still retain an understanding of many body/crystal associations.
Though it may not be its conventional name, I’ve chosen to call this being the ‘Mineral Kingdom Angel’.

A family outing to the Faerie Glen
It was the weekend and another opportunity to go walking with the family - this time our outing would be to the Faerie Glen on the outskirts of Rosemarkie. In its heyday, the Fairy Glen was the main feature of a garden which is now an RSPB nature reserve.
I knew our children, aged seven and eleven at the time would enjoy the walk which follows a meandering stream uphill to two waterfalls, and yes, it was another opportunity to trace the footsteps of two well-known characters from the Findhorn Foundation, Roc and Peter, who’d purposely visited the Glen years before with the intention of communicating with subtle beings. I’d sat in quiet solitude on my previous visit, invoking the Glen’s ‘overseer’ whilst remaining open to whatever might appear – perhaps somewhat foolish given that dusk was fast approaching and creating an atmosphere that became ominous and overbearing which resulted in a hasty retreat!
Our walk began at a car park to the east of Rosemarkie and adjacent to the footpath leading into the Faerie Glen and were soon into the partly overgrown, but renowned beauty spot. I remarked to my wife, a few steps ahead, that we were more likely to meet with fairies here than anywhere else in Scotland, to which she responded with a disbelieving comment accompanied by a stifled snigger – she was well aware of my ‘silly’ beliefs but in the forty years since, I’ve become wise to the smoke screens she erects to dissuade me from talking about such subjects.
Half a mile further on and we’d spread out - the children running ahead, followed by my wife and then me, 20 yards or so behind - the stage was set!
Suddenly my wife began hopping and jumping about in a most unusual way - I remained at a distance watching in sheer fascination, realising nature beings were swirling around her feet and she was obviously trying not to step on them – the out of this world scene lasted for several minutes before she returned to walking normally.
I was giddy with excitement but stayed at a distance until catching everyone up as we reached what was the first of two glorious waterfalls – the children were busy throwing sticks into the stream leading away from the waterfall and my wife was stood back in silence, her face a picture of bewilderment which remained so until we got back to the car park.
It was several days before she related the story of her enchantment - not until she obviously felt her embarrassing encounter could be revealed. She had ridiculed my ‘fairy stories’ for years and was now confronted with one of her own! My wife explained that a dozen or so tiny light beings had suddenly appeared and were darting around her feet and lower legs which gave her the impression they were having fun by causing her to jump and hop to avoid them as she walked.

Cluny’s Garden unfolded a most unexpected confrontation!
I’d arrived at Cluny a good 2 hours before the start of a workshop I was due to attend so took the opportunity to go for a walk in the adjacent garden.
As always, when I’ve descended the steps into Cluny’s garden, I paid my respects to the very tall tree near to the bottom of the steps and gave it a heartfelt hug – it’s been there for as long as I can remember and have come to regard it as a kind of sentinel keeping an eye on everyone. Making a physical connection in this way seemed to help me begin to loosen day to day concerns and relax more easily into the scene. Today was no different as I soon found myself free of nagging thoughts and able to just enjoy being there!
I was still in this detached frame of mind when reaching the far end of the garden - to my right was the gate leading into the ‘Chakra Garden ’ and the bottom gate onto the public road was just a few yards ahead. Deciding to go back through the Chakra Garden, I opened the gate and entered - it had been the middle of winter on my last visit, with only the remains of what must have been a colourful display, but now it was the height of summer and was curious to see how it had changed.
When entering I’d no preconceptions as to what the Chakra Garden would look like which was just as well, as stood before me was the magnificent figure of Pan! Yes, it was the God of Nature I’d read about in Roc’s (Ogilvy’s) account of meeting with this being at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. He stood a good metre taller than myself and much more muscular and hairier than any man I’d ever met but for some reason he didn’t frighten me?? This very stern looking Pan instantly demanded to know what I wanted, with an intimidating glare that changed to a playful laugh when I said in an equally stern and demanding way that he steps aside – and he did!
Many encounters with subtle beings initially appear as a transparent image made up of shimmering lines of energy overlaying the scene and are often accompanied with an exchange of feelings from which a conversation can be transcribed. On this occasion, Pan had the appearance of a Greek God and didn’t have the horns or cloven feet described by many. (The shadowy figure on a photo I took at Bruar Falls in 2018 looks similar to the Pan I encountered)
Pan walked by my side for a few paces but faded away as excitement at the encounter changed my focussed gait of detachment with an eagerness to return to Cluny to share the experience over breakfast which, to my amusement and perhaps Pan’s, resulted in three fellow explorer’s following close behind when repeating the walk the following morning!
We did however meet again – a story for another day…..

A close encounter of the fourth kind?
Saturday morning 1st May, 2021 - It was Beltane, the Gaelic name for the beginning of summer, walking along an old railway cutting – the last train must have passed through there decades ago and had since become a popular footpath between two country villages in North Yorkshire.
The railway cutting had become an area of special interest due to the number and variety of wild flowers growing along its embankments with a group of volunteers looking after it.
It was a bright sunny day with only birdsong to keep me company. Soon after entering the cutting I noticed a large patch of nettles - I’d recently learned that nettles were a good food source and walked towards them for a closer look.
In deep thought about how to prepare such food a nature being suddenly appeared and began dancing in circles next to me and singing about how strong and vibrant was the new growth, and how happy she was now that spring had arrived!
She was simply dressed in a mid-length skirt and blouse, similar to how I remember children were dressed in the 1950’s.
The atmosphere became very surreal as she danced and I began to feel the joy this little being was expressing. It didn’t occur to me to ask any questions and she disappeared just as quickly as she had appeared, and I just carried on along the path, but I now had a big smile on my face and a spring in my step along with a beautiful memory that will stay with me forever!

My very first Angel
It was the summer of 1984, working in a recession hit industrial area close to the centre of Sheffield that I began to experience yet another round of deep-seated anguish. With hindsight, I now know it was brought on by my developing field of awareness picking up the general mood of the locality, back then I assumed it to be ‘just’ another round of inner cleansing.
These feelings subsided after work, but returned with greater intensity when returning the next day. This carried on for several weeks until one bright sunny morning the feelings became unbearable - I literally walked away from the job, out of the confines of the construction area and into the adjacent derelict city streets! I couldn’t think straight; neither could I talk to anyone, nor even carry out the simplest of routine tasks. Even though I’d responsibilities, I needed to get away, to leave everything behind. Carrying what seemed to be the burden of the ages on my shoulders, I walked around and over the dust and rubble that had been, just a few years earlier, a world-famous stainless steel making district but now appeared war ravaged.
The feelings remained - God wasn’t to come to my aid on this occasion as he had so many times before - these feelings were apparently to be my responsibility. Was this part of an ever-expanding role on the pathway towards oneness, to take full responsibility not just for my life, but also for feelings cast into the atmosphere wherever I go?
Past experience had taught me to embrace such dreadful feelings, to love them better, in order to transmute and lighten them, to stay with them until they dispersed – it had worked in the past but this time the intensity was too much to bear, but my sense of duty presented no alternative but to return to my desk, and with a deep sigh headed back to work.
The security gates loomed large ahead of me, and so did the feelings of dread. Where are you God? Have you forsaken me? Taking a deep breath, I stepped through the gates and stopped in my tracks - what is this? In my path stood a glorious fountain of colour, an out of this world shimmering rainbow of colours radiating outwards from a form I’d never seen before but instinctively knew to be an Angel – and the love this being radiated, wow! Eight feet tall and six feet wide, this majestic and benevolent form lifted my depression instantly and I entered into a moment of ecstasy. My God hadn’t forsaken me after all, how could I have ever doubted? Overflowing with joy, heads turned as I danced across the construction site …. God does love me….
